Electrocardiographic changes in pneumothorax: an updated review.

ECG changes in pneumothorax have gained recognition as important indicators of cardiopulmonary interactions. This narrative review examines the existing literature to provide insights into the various ECG abnormalities observed in patients with pneumothorax, their underlying mechanisms, and clinical implications. The review highlights the commonly reported changes, including alterations in the electrical axis, ST segment deviations, T-wave abnormalities, and arrhythmias.

Comparison of Sacubitril/Valsartan Versus Enalapril in the Management of Heart Failure.

Background and objective The recent emergence of new molecules like angiotensin receptor-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNI) has highlighted the need for an update in heart failure (HF) management, as they have proven to yield better patient outcomes compared to the traditional angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor/angiotensin II receptor blocker (ACEI/ARB) use. This study aimed to compare HF-related hospitalization and death in patients on either ACEI/ARBs or ARNI in a local setting. Methods This two-arm interventional study was conducted in the cardiology and internal medicine units of a tertiary care hospital in Pakistan from July 2018 to December 2020.

Prevalence and Causes of Hyperuricemia in Children.

Introduction  There are various factors responsible for hyperuricemia in children, however, there is extremely limited local data available. In this study, we aim to determine the causes and risk factors associated with hyperuricemia. This study will assist pediatric consultants to identify children who might be at risk of hyperuricemia and manage them accordingly.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease in the Young Population and Its Correlation With Anxiety and Depression.

Introduction Stress and anxiety may disrupt normal GI function and lead to several GI disorders, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). In this study, we aimed to predict the prevalence of GERD in young patients and its association with anxiety and depression. Material and Methods This cross-sectional study enrolled 2,500 participants from the general public, with an age range of 18 to 40 years.

Alzheimer's Disease and Its Association With Bone Health: A Case-Control Study.

Introduction Alzheimer's disease is associated with low bone mineral density. Various studies have linked early-onset Alzheimer's disease with bone health. In this study, we will determine the association between bone health and recently diagnosed Alzheimer's disease in the local population.

Frequency of Cardiovascular Manifestation in Patients With Hyperthyroidism.

Introduction Cardiovascular manifestations are very common in hyperthyroidism. Various cardiovascular symptoms such as palpitations, exercise intolerance, dyspnea, angina, edema, and congestive heart failure are commonly reported in hyperthyroidism. In this study, we determine the frequency of cardiovascular signs, symptoms, and various conduction disorders associated with hyperthyroidism.

Ethnic differences in comorbidity among substance-abusing adolescents referred to outpatient therapy.

Objective: To examine differences in psychiatric comorbidity between African-American and Hispanic substance-abusing adolescents referred for outpatient therapy.

Method: Participants were 167 substance-abusing adolescents and their family members who completed an intake assessment. As part of the intake assessment, adolescents and parents were administered the Diagnostic Interview Schedule for Children-Predictive Scales to screen for the presence of nine psychiatric diagnoses representing both externalizing and internalizing disorders.
