Purpose: To study the factors that might impact infarction of individual uterine leiomyomas and total tumor burden after uterine artery embolization (UAE).

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 91 patients (mean age, 44 y [range, 34-54 y]) who underwent UAE with tris-acryl gelatin microspheres (TAGMs) or nonspherical polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) particles. Twenty-one patients were treated with PVA (23%) and 70 were treated with TAGMs (77%).

Study Objective: Rapid repeat adolescent pregnancy is a significant public health concern. An effective and practical means of decreasing unintended second adolescent pregnancies needs to be identified. The objective of this study is to determine if early initiation of contraception, and in particular long acting reversible contraception (LARC), decreases rapid repeat pregnancy among first time adolescent mothers.

Controversy remains as to which patients with small bowel obstruction (SBO) need immediate surgery and which may be managed conservatively. This study evaluated the ability of clinical risk factors to predict the failure of nonoperative management of SBO.
