A spiral gram-negative bacteria, known as helicobacter pylori, is frequently discovered in the stomach and is linked to a number of clinical disorders. Understanding its prevalence and trends is crucial for both improved clinical outcomes as well as greater epidemiological insight into the region. The current retrospective study was planned to analyse the prevalence and frequency trends of helicobacter pylori in gastric mucosal samples from a Karachi-based tertiary care centre.

Objective: This meta-analysis aims to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of cannabis in the management of Crohn's disease (CD) by synthesizing evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs). By adhering to the 2020 PRISMA guidelines and registering the study protocol with PROSPERO, this research intends to offer robust, evidence-based recommendations for healthcare practitioners on the therapeutic potential and clinical implications of cannabis use in CD management.

Methods: A literature search encompassing PubMed, Google Scholar, and the Cochrane Library was conducted to identify relevant RCTs comparing cannabis to placebo or standard therapy in CD patients.

Melanoma of the uveal tract or uveal melanoma (UM) originates from melanocytes of the eye and is the most common intraocular malignancy in adults. Despite considerable advances in diagnostic procedures and treatments, prognosis remains poor in those with advanced disease. Accordingly, although current treatments have an excellent local disease control rate, approximately 50% of patients develop metastatic relapse within 10 years.

Due to environmental concerns and the growing emphasis on sustainable consumption, educating consumers and promoting eco-friendly products are paramount. In this perspective, this research aims to investigate the effect of the tone of video messages delivered just before the decision-making process on visual attention, environmental awareness, and the tendency to consume green products on online platforms. In view of the Regulatory Focus Theory, the study employs a dual-method approach, integrating eye-tracking as a neuromarketing tool and a questionnaire to enhance the reliability of findings.

Article Synopsis
  • Cardiac myxomas are the most common benign tumors of the heart, typically appearing as oval masses on the interatrial septum and can cause embolic episodes that require urgent treatment.
  • In a case study, a middle-aged woman experienced an acute ischemic stroke and was found to have a complex cystic mass in her left atrium, which was initially difficult to diagnose due to overlapping imaging characteristics with other conditions.
  • Surgical removal of the cystic mass was performed to confirm it as a cardiac myxoma and to prevent serious complications like stroke and hemodynamic issues, marking it as a rare case of this tumor variant.

  • - VillageReach, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health in Kinshasa, DRC, launched an initiative in July 2022 to integrate COVID-19 vaccinations with routine immunizations at two healthcare facilities, aiming to boost vaccination coverage during the pandemic.
  • - A case study utilizing key informant interviews and data analysis showed that this integration effectively maintained COVID-19 vaccine rates while significantly improving routine immunization, especially for under-immunized and zero-dose children.
  • - The success of this initiative was driven by community health worker involvement, targeted strategies, accessible locations, and strong data management, indicating that similar approaches could enhance immunization efforts in urban communities.

Ocular myasthenia gravis (OMG) is a neuromuscular disease characterized by the production of autoantibodies against post-synaptic proteins at the neuromuscular junction (NMJ). An 18-year-old male who had symptoms of drooping eyelids and double vision was diagnosed with ocular myasthenia gravis on investigations and examinations. Treatment was initiated with a tablet of pyridostigmine 60 mg twice daily per oral for two weeks, followed by three times daily for four weeks.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, and incidence rates are rising, it is thought in part, due to increasing levels of obesity. Endocrine therapy (ET) remains the cornerstone of systemic therapy for early and advanced oestrogen receptor-positive (ER + ) breast cancer, but despite treatment advances, it is becoming more evident that obesity and insulin resistance are associated with worse outcomes. Here, we describe the current understanding of the relationship between both obesity and diabetes and the prevalence and outcomes for ER+ breast cancer.

Article Synopsis
  • This paper examines the impact of urban road transport (URT) development on haze pollution, focusing on the relationship between road accessibility and air quality in China's Yangtze River Delta.
  • It uses innovative data from digital elevation models and addresses potential issues of reverse causality by employing long-lagged values of URT as an instrumental variable in a two-stage least squares analysis.
  • The findings indicate that while better road connections can decrease haze pollution, the increased urban agglomeration from URT development contributes more significantly to elevated haze levels, suggesting that current road transport policies may have adverse long-term effects on the livability of cities in the region.

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the PECS II block's effectiveness in 120 patients undergoing cardiac device implantation, focusing on cases completed without additional anesthesia.
  • 65% of patients required extra local anesthetic during the procedure, but 81.7% reported high satisfaction with their pain management.
  • The findings suggest that while the PECS II block alone didn't eliminate the need for supplemental anesthesia, it notably improved the overall surgical experience and provided effective pain relief post-operation.

Parkinson's disease (PD), the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder, is projected to see a significant rise in incidence over the next three decades. The precise treatment of PD remains a formidable challenge, prompting ongoing research into early diagnostic methodologies. Network pharmacology, a burgeoning field grounded in systems biology, examines the intricate networks of biological systems to identify critical signal nodes, facilitating the development of multi-target therapeutic molecules.

Introduction: Despite advances in medical therapy, liver replacement continues to be the only definitive mode of therapy for children with end-stage liver disease (ESLD). However, its acceptance in India has been discouraging more due to financial and logistic reasons than the availability of expertise. This report outlines our journey and highlights issues pertinent to circumstances in an emerging economy like India.

The investigation into cysteine-rich receptor-like kinases (CRLKs) holds pivotal significance as these conserved, upstream signalling molecules intricately regulate fundamental biological processes such as plant growth, development and stress adaptation. This study undertakes a comprehensive characterisation of CRLKs in Solanum tuberosum (potato), a staple food crop of immense economic importance. Employing comparative genomics and evolutionary analyses, we identified 10 distinct CRLK genes in potato.
