View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Ubiquitously Transcribed Tetracopeptide Repeat on X Chromosome (UTX) and Jumonji Domain-Containing Protein 3 (JMJD3) are histone H3 lysine 27 (H3K27) demethylases that are found to play tumour suppressor or oncogenic roles in many cancers. However, their roles in urothelial carcinoma (UC) have not been well studied.
Objective: This study investigated UTX and JMJD3 protein expression patterns in UC and assess their clinical significance.
The prevalence of ischaemic heart disease with associated cardiomegaly and other chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus has increased in Malaysia in recent years. As the contribution to mortality from ischaemic heart disease/cardiomegaly in different ethnic populations is unclear, a three year (January 2013-December 2015) retrospective study of autopsy cases was undertaken at the Department of Forensic Pathology, University Malaya Medical Centre. There were 80 cases with lethal ischaemic heart diseases/cardiomegaly.

Introduction: Unforeseen emergency in late pregnancy can be catastrophic and cause unexpected maternal and foetal demise. Moreover, lack of awareness and failure of prompt treatment raise mortality rate. Such fatalities warrant a forensic autopsy as it may raise redundant medico-legal concerns.

The victim, a 63-year-old prosperous businessman from Labasa, of the Northern Island (Vanua Levu) of Fiji Islands, was found completely decapitated in the early hours of morning in 2004. Initial police investigation did not reveal any history of any medical or family calamity. Further inquiry by the police revealed that on the previous day the deceased had visited all his friends and relatives, and his behavior was not out of the ordinary.
