Cajal like cells (CLCs) in the upper urinary tract have an ability to generate coordinated spontaneous action potentials and are hypothesized to help propel urine from renal pelvis into the ureter. The objective of this review was to describe the variations in the density and distribution of CLCs associated with ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO). Studies comparing the density and distribution of CLCs in the human upper urinary tract in patients with UPJO and healthy controls were included in this systematic review.

Background: Collagen VI-related dystrophies are a subtype of congenital muscular dystrophy caused by pathogenic variants in COL6A1, COL6A2 or COL6A3 genes affecting skeletal muscles and connective tissue. The clinical phenotype ranges from the milder Bethlem myopathy to the severe Ullrich congenital muscular dystrophy (UCMD). Herein, we report the first consanguineous Sri Lankan family with two children affected with UCMD due to a novel variant in the COL6A1 gene.

The purpose of this study was to identify surface anatomy of digital nerves in relation to the pigmented border of digits. Three-hundred and sixty digital nerves in 36 preserved adult cadaveric hands were dissected under magnification. The digital nerves were constantly located anterior to the pigmented border.
