Background: Obesity and diabetes are associated with elevated free fatty acids like palmitic acid (PA), which promote chronic inflammation and impaired inflammation resolution associated with cardiometabolic disorders. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are implicated in inflammatory processes; however, their roles in PA-regulated inflammation and resolution are unclear.
Methods: We performed RNA-sequencing analysis to identify PA-regulated coding genes and novel lncRNAs in CD14 monocytes from healthy volunteers.

Methods: This retrospective review used VHA electronic medical record from 1999 to 2015. We analyzed prevalence, disease characteristics, modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores, and mortality data in patients with TM based on the 2002 Diagnostic Criteria.
Erythropoiesis requires a combination of ubiquitous and tissue-specific transcription factors (TFs). Here, through DNA affinity purification followed by mass spectrometry, we have identified the widely expressed protein MAZ (Myc-associated zinc finger) as a TF that binds to the promoter of the erythroid-specific human α-globin gene. Genome-wide mapping in primary human erythroid cells revealed that MAZ also occupies active promoters as well as GATA1-bound enhancer elements of key erythroid genes.

It is now well established that plasma-induced reactive species are key agents involved in many biochemical reactions. This work reports on the formation of plasma reactive species in an acidified ferrous sulfate (Fricke) solution interacting with an atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ). In this paper we present measurements of the secondary electron emission yield (gamma) of a carbonaceous dust particle material, which was grown in argon diluted acetylene plasmas. One aim was to reach a better understanding of charging and discharging processes of dust particles in complex plasmas due to secondary electron emission and consequently to try to explain the anomalous behavior of electron density observed in afterglows of pulsed rf plasmas. We compared the results of a simple model and of a Monte Carlo simulation to the previously measured time dependence of the electron density in complex plasma afterglow.

The previously characterized ATRX protein (approximately 280 kDa) contains both a Plant homeodomain (PHD)-like zinc finger motif as well as an ATPase domain of the SNF2 family. These motifs suggest that ATRX may function as a regulator of gene expression, probably by exerting an effect on chromatin structure, although the exact cellular role of ATRX has not yet been fully elucidated.
