Trichinosis is a common parasitic disease that affects the striated skeletal muscles, causing apoptotic and degenerative changes associated with myogenin expression in the affected myocytes. Hence, this study aimed to assess the ameliorative effects of stem cells and atorvastatin added to ivermectin on the infected myocytes during the muscular phase of murine trichinosis. 120 laboratory Swiss albino male mice were divided into 10 groups, and each group was subdivided into intestinal and muscular phases (each n = 6); uninfected control; untreated infected control; infected received ivermectin monotherapy; infected received atorvastatin monotherapy; infected received stem cells monotherapy; infected received ivermectin and atorvastatin dual therapy; infected received ivermectin and stem cells dual therapy; infected received atorvastatin and stem cells dual therapy; infected received ivermectin 0.

Background: Finding a dead body in water raises an issue concerning determining the cause of death as drowning because of the complex pathophysiology of drowning. In addition, the corpse may be submersed postmortem.

Objective: Evaluate the role of oxidative stress markers and NF-KB/iNOS inflammatory pathway as diagnostic biomarkers in drowning and whether they could differentiate freshwater from saltwater drowning.

Trichinellosis is one of the global food-borne parasitic diseases that can cause severe tissue damage. The traditionally used drugs for the treatment of trichinellosis have limited efficacy against the encysted larvae in the muscular phase of the disease. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the role of atorvastatin and mesenchymal stem cells combined with ivermectin against different phases of Trichinella in experimentally infected mice.

A new, rapid, selective, green, and highly sensitive method has been established to determine ivabradine and carvedilol simultaneously. The first derivative synchronous spectrofluorimetric approach was applied for the determination of the studied drugs. Assessment of the first derivative amplitude of carvedilol and ivabradine has been done at 339 nm and 298 nm respectively which are the zero crossing points of each other.

Background: Psoriasis (Pso) is a chronic proliferative skin condition associated with hyperuricemia that may impair renal function.

Objectives: The current study investigates the correlation between purine derivatives (PDs) and renal function in patients with Pso.

Patients/methods: This case-control study comprises 30 psoriatic patients and 30 age- and sex-matched healthy controls.

Background: The skin and the kidney are commonly affected in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with similar molecular mechanisms. Although clinical indicators of renal injury in SLE are fairly uncontroversial, few biomarkers are reliable. The role of micro-RNAs (mi-RNAs) in lupus nephritis (LN) pathogenesis has been investigated to help in early diagnosis.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates how common Enterobius vermicularis infestation is in patients who have undergone appendectomy and examines its connection to acute appendicitis.
  • Out of 1150 appendectomy cases reviewed over three years, only 31 (2.7%) were found to have E. v infestation; most of these cases involved children, and many presented no additional appendiceal issues.
  • The study concludes that while E. v infestation can be found incidentally in appendectomy specimens, there is no established relationship between E. v and acute appendicitis, signaling a need for further research and caution during surgical procedures to avoid unnecessary complications.
