Assessment of the gender gap in urology industry payments: An Open Payments Program data analysis.

Purpose: The Open Payments Program (OPP), established in 2013 under the Sunshine Act, mandated medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers to submit records of financial incentives given to physicians for public availability. The study aims to characterize the gap in real general and real research payments between man and woman urologists.

Materials And Methods: The study sample included all urologists in the United States who received at least one general or research payment in the OPP database from 2015 to 2021.

Comparison of Urinary Tract Infection Incidence Following Intradetrusor OnabotulinumtoxinA in Office Versus Operating Room Settings.

Importance: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a known complication of intradetrusor onabotulinumtoxinA (BTX) injection. However, whether administering intradetrusor BTX in different clinical settings affects the risk of postprocedural UTI has not been investigated.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to assess differences in the incidence of postprocedural UTI in women who received intradetrusor BTX in an outpatient office versus an operating room (OR).

Vaginal Free Graft Dorsal Onlay Urethroplasty.

Objective: Female urethral stricture is a rare, but often underrecognized, cause of voiding dysfunction in females. Vaginal free graft urethroplasty has been shown to have good efficacy and durability in treating urethral stricture, though accessible descriptions of technique are not widely available. Accordingly, we set out to describe and demonstrate our technique for vaginal mucosal free graft dorsal onlay urethroplasty.

High uterosacral ligament hysteropexy for the management of pelvic organ prolapse.

Objective:: To demonstrate our transvaginal high uterosacral ligament (HUL) hysteropexy technique as an alternative mesh-free uterine-preserving pelvic organ prolapse (POP) repair approach and present our institutional outcomes. Concurrent hysterectomy with POP repair is controversial as uterine-preserving techniques may beneficially allow fertility, body image and sexual function preservation (1, 2).

Polydimethylsiloxane Erosion as a Cause for Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections.

Urethral bulking agents are commonly used for the management of stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Little long-term data exist for these agents, with few reports of migration or urethral erosion. We describe a unique case of a woman who received a midurethral sling 3 years after receiving an injection of the urethral bulking agent, polydimethylsiloxane, because of persistent SUI.

Contemporary multicenter outcomes of continent cutaneous ileocecocystoplasty in the adult population over a 10-year period: A Neurogenic Bladder Research Group study.

Aims: Evidence is sparse on the long-term outcomes of continent cutaneous ileocecocystoplasty (CCIC). We hypothesized that obesity, laparoscopic/robotic approach, and concomitant surgeries would affect morbidity after CCIC and aimed to evaluate the outcomes of CCIC in adults in a multicenter contemporary study.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the charts of adult patients from sites in the Neurogenic Bladder Research Group undergoing CCIC (2007-2017) who had at least 6 months of follow-up.

Bladder Augmentation (Enterocystoplasty): the Current State of a Historic Operation.

Purpose Of Review: The goal of this paper was to evaluate the current use of enterocystoplasty, a historical operation for bladder dysfunction but with continued and increasing modern relevance.

Recent Findings: Since the advent of third line neuromodulation techniques for neurogenic and idiopathic overactive bladder (OAB), the usage of enterocystoplasty has decreased. However, this procedure continues to be utilized in pediatric urology patients and the most refractory OAB patients.
