Perceptions of quality of life by female sex workers from the rural area of the Sertão Produtivo Baiano, Brazil: a phenomenological study.

Introduction: Paid sexual services performed by women are surrounded by stigma and associated prejudice and shame results in vulnerability, making it very difficult for these women to achieve a good quality of life. Such an environment is exacerbated by intersectionalities that mark the trajectory of women who have the ability and desire to obtain income in sexual practice. They experience inequities in gender, race and class and, above all, bear marks of struggle and survival, being residents of a poor, rural region of Brazil, far from urban centers.

Quality of life from women's perspective in the exercise of sex work: a study of social representations.

Objectives: to analyze the social representations elaborated by sex workers from Alto Sertão Produtivo Baiano about quality of life.

Methods: a qualitative study, based on the Social Representation Theory, carried out in the region of Alto Sertão Produtivo Baiano, with 30 sex workers. Individual in-depth interview was carried out, with speeches organized in a corpus and treated in IRAMUTEQ, enabling lexical analysis for Descending Hierarchical Classification.

Mental health of female sex workers in the COVID-19 pandemic: stressors and coping strategies.

The objective was to analyze the coping strategies adopted by female sex workers in the face of stressors resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Qualitative study supported by Systems and Coping theories. An in-depth interview was carried out with 30 sex workers from the Alto Sertão Produtivo Baiano between September and October 2020.

Progressive Resistance Training Improves Bradykinesia, Motor Symptoms and Functional Performance in Patients with Parkinson's Disease.

Purpose: Bradykinesia and muscle weaknesses are common symptoms of Parkinson's Disease (PD) and are associated with impaired functional performance, increased risk of falls, and reduced quality of life. Recent studies have pointed to progressive resistance training (PRT) as an effective method to control and reduce these symptoms, increasing possibilities to treat the disease. However, few studies have focused on assessing the PRT effects in the short-term.

[Disinfection with sodium hypochlorite in hospital environmental surfaces in the reduction of contamination and infection prevention: a systematic review].

Objective: To search for evidence of the efficiency of sodium hypochlorite on environmental surfaces in reducing contamination and prevention of healthcare-associated infection HAIs.

Method: Systematic review in accordance with the Cochrane Collaboration.

Results: We analyzed 14 studies, all controlled trials, published between 1989-2013.

Health and education: a partnership required for school success.

Purpose: To investigate the association between home environment resources and the school performance of children from a public school in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, enrolled in the fourth year of the second cycle of Elementary School.

Methods: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study in which 48 children aged between 8 and 12 years old participated. It included 28 boys, 20 girls, and their respective guardians.

[Routine use of dental services by the elderly in Brazil: the SB Brazil Project].

The routine use of dental services by elderly participants in a representative survey of Brazilians (the SB Brazil Project) was investigated. 2,305 were dentate and 2,704 edentulous. Prevalence of use was 20% and 17%, respectively.

White sponge nevus: report of a three-generation family.

Objective: White sponge nevus (WSN) is a rare autosomal dominant disorder that results in soft, white, and spongy plaques in the oral mucosa. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical, histopathologic, and genetic features of a family, spanning 3 generations, affected by WSN.

Study Design: This study was performed using a cross-sectional layout analyzing a family with WSN.
