Potent antioxidants, like 3-hydroxy flavones, attracted considerable attention due to their excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT)-based fluorescence behaviour. This article is an interesting demonstration of a series of synthetic 3-hydroxy flavone analogues having high antioxidant activity as molecular rotor-like viscosity probes. Among these flavone analogues, 4'-N,N-dimethylamino-3-hydroxy flavone (3) is the most potent one, showing the twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT)-dependent fluoroprobing activity toward the blood viscosity changes associated with diabetes and free fatty acids (FFA)-induced nuclear viscosity changes of MIN6 cells.

Cesium lanthanide chloride (CsLnCl), a recently developed class of lanthanide-based zero-dimensional metal halides, has garnered a significant amount of interest because of its potential applications in scintillators, light-emitting diodes, and photodetectors. Although cesium lanthanide chloride demonstrates exceptional scintillator properties, conventional synthesis methods involving solid-state and solution-phase techniques are complex and limited on the reaction scale. This study presents a facile mechanochemical synthesis method for producing CsCeCl, CsTbCl, and CsEuCl metal halides on a 5 g scale.

Remote and van der Waals epitaxy are promising approaches for synthesizing single crystalline membranes for flexible electronics and discovery of new properties via extreme strain; however, a fundamental challenge is that most materials do not wet the graphene surface. We develop a cold seed approach for synthesizing smooth intermetallic films on graphene that can be exfoliated to form few nanometer thick single crystalline membranes. Our seeded GdAuGe films have narrow X-ray rocking curve widths of 9-24 arc seconds, which is 2 orders of magnitude lower than their counterparts grown by typical high temperature methods, and have atomically sharp interfaces observed by transmission electron microscopy.

Recently, lanthanide-based 0D metal halides have attracted considerable attention for their applications in X-ray imaging, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), sensors, and photodetectors. Herein, lead-free 0D gadolinium-alloyed cesium cerium chloride (Gd-alloyed CsCeCl) nanocrystals (NCs) are introduced as promising materials for optoelectronic application owing to their unique optical properties. The incorporation of Gd in CsCeCl (CCC) NCs is proposed to increase the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) from 57% to 96%, along with significantly enhanced phase and chemical stability.

Even though heavy and transition metals originated in the earth's crust, the significant human exposure and environmental pollution consequences of anthropogenic activities include industrial production and waste, mining and smelting operations, and agricultural and domestic usage of metals. Because of their nonbiodegradable nature, heavy metal ions such as Cu accumulate very quickly in plants and edible animals, ultimately ending up in the human food cycle. Therefore, to nullify the detrimental effects of Cu ions for the sake of the environment and living organisms, we are motivated to design a sensor molecule that can not only detect Cu ions but also remove them selectively from the water medium.

Hydrazine-mediated formation of 1,4-phthalazinedione analogues from phthalimide-like components has been utilized to formulate fluorescent probe . Given that the ontological origins of the Third Age lie in the cultural logics of social class, consumer society and "habitus," a majority of its gerontological examination is qualitative in nature. We utilize the recently released Longitudinal Aging Study in India (2017-2018) and harness the time-use module to offer an empirical portrait of Third Agers in India. Considering that the aging scholarship in India has been often articulated in the empirical language of dependency, care regimes, and (economic) insecurity, we believe this examination allows us to shift the gerontological gaze from a risk perspective to one that is positive and affirmative.

In this paper, we contend that urban middle-class older Indians engaged in "serious leisure" as a way to reimagine and reconfigure the structure of everyday life during the pandemic-led epochal downtime. In particular, we heuristically show that leisure activity patterns and constraint negotiation strategies among older Indians followed conceptual semblances with the dominant leisure-based typology of . By thematically analysing household surveys (n = 71), time-use diaries and in-depth interviews (n = 15) of middle to upper middle-class individuals (55-80 years), we show how both men and women distinguished between serious leisure that is marked by motivation, agency and perseverance with that of unstructured, routinized free-time (or causal leisure).

Classical theories of dielectric friction make two critical assumptions: (i) friction due to van der Waals (vdW) forces is described by hydrodynamic drag and is independent of the ionic charge and (ii) vdW and electrostatic forces are statistically independent. Both assumptions turn out to be incorrect when tested against simulations of anions and cations with varying charge magnitude dissolved in water. It is surprising that although 12 million people in India suffer from epilepsy this remains a thoroughly under-researched area in the sociology of health and practice. We address this intellectual and policy neglect by reviewing the social, psychological and legal challenges governing the lives of people living with epilepsy (PWE) by paying particular attention to negotiations in arranged marriages and employment.
