Psychosocial and Behavioral Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Children and Adolescents with Autism and Their Families: Overview of the Literature and Initial Data from a Multinational Online Survey.

Since COVID-19 has become a pandemic, everyday life has seen dramatic changes affecting individuals, families, and children with and without autism. Among other things, these changes entail more time at home, digital forms of communication, school closures, and reduced support and intervention. Here, we assess the effects of the pandemic on quality of life for school-age autistic and neurotypical children and adolescents.

Clinical outcome of selective amygdalectomy in a series of patients with resistant temporal lobe epilepsy.

Background: Selective amygdalohippocampectomy is one of the main approaches for treating medial temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). We herewith describe seven cases of amygdala lesions treated with selective amygdalectomy with the hippocampus saving procedure. Furthermore, we explain the trans-middle temporal gyrus transventricular approach for selective amygdalectomy.

Introduction: The role of brain tissues oxidative damage in learning and memory impairments has been well documented. It is also well known that thyroid hormones have a critical role for the brain functions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of brain tissues oxidative damage as a possible mechanism of deleterious effects of propylthiouracil (PTU) - induced hypothyroidism on learning and memory in neonatal and juvenile growth in rats.

Music training program: a method based on language development and principles of neuroscience to optimize speech and language skills in hearing-impaired children.

Introduction: In recent years, music has been employed in many intervention and rehabilitation program to enhance cognitive abilities in patients. Numerous researches show that music therapy can help improving language skills in patients including hearing impaired. In this study, a new method of music training is introduced based on principles of neuroscience and capabilities of Persian language to optimize language development in deaf children after implantation.
