Small cell lung cancer recurring in the retina.

Intraocular metastases are rare, usually isolating to the uveal tract. Retinal metastases are less common still, presenting a unique diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. This case observes a 66-year-old female ex-smoker presenting with unilateral painful vision loss 2 months from completion of definitive chemoradiotherapy for early-stage small cell lung cancer.

Systemic therapy is the mainstay of treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Heterogeneity between primary tumours and metastases may lead to discordant responses to systemic therapy at these sites. The aim of the present study was to examine these discrepancies and to evaluate the rates of complications arising from the primary tumour and the strategies employed to manage these complications.

TGFβ drives NK cell metabolic dysfunction in human metastatic breast cancer.

Background: Natural killer (NK) cells provide important immune protection from cancer and are a key requirement for particular immunotherapies. There is accumulating evidence that NK cells become dysfunctional during cancer. Overcoming NK cell exhaustion would be an important step to allow them to function optimally in a range of NK cell therapies, including those that depend on autologos circulating NK cells.

Temporal expression of hypoxia-regulated genes is associated with early changes in redox status in irradiated lung.

The development of normal lung tissue toxicity after radiation exposure results from multiple changes in cell signaling and communication initiated at the time of the ionizing event. The onset of gross pulmonary injury is preceded by tissue hypoxia and chronic oxidative stress. We have previously shown that development of debilitating lung injury can be mitigated or prevented by administration of AEOL10150, a potent catalytic antioxidant, 24h after radiation.
