The magnetic properties of a 2D layered material consisting of high-spin Co complexes, [Co(NHNH)(HO)Cl]Cl ( ), have been extensively characterized using electron paramagnetic resonance, magnetic susceptibility, and low-temperature heat capacity measurements. Electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy studies suggest that below 50 K, the = 3/2 orbital triplet state of Co is gradually depopulated in favor of the = 1/2 spin state, which is dominant below 20 K. In light of this, the magnetic susceptibility has been fitted with a two-level model, indicating that the interactions in this material are much weaker than previously thought.

Scant research to date has explored the possibility of context-specific variation in attachment security within a given relationship. In this paper, two cross-sectional studies were designed (1) to develop and validate context-specific attachment scales in Traditional-Chinese and (2) to explore variations in attachment security within a given parental relationship but between the contexts of sport and academics, relating them to global attachment patterns and indicators of psychological well-being. Results indicated that Taiwanese youth can and do perceive contextual variation within a given parental relationship.

This study sought to use attachment theory as a lens through which to explore children's relationships with animal companions in the context of long-term foster care. Inductive and deductive thematic analyses of longitudinal case study data from eight children and their foster families suggested (a) that children's relationships with animal companions satisfied attachment-related functions in their own right and (b) that animal companions also helped to soften perceptions of foster caregivers, facilitating opportunities for the development of closeness. Animals in the foster home may therefore play an important part in helping children to find and develop secure, warm, and loving relationships.

We present a general technique to obtain the zero temperature cumulant generating function of the full counting statistics of charge transfer in interacting impurity models out of equilibrium from time-dependent simulations on a lattice. We demonstrate the technique with application to the self-dual interacting resonant level model, where very good agreement between numerical simulations using the density matrix renormalization group and those obtained analytically from the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz is found. We show from the exact form of counting statistics that the quasiparticles involved in transport carry charge 2e in the low bias regime and e/2 in the high bias regime.

For single-channel nanowires with repulsive interaction we find that transport properties of the system are highly sensitive to the transverse gradient of the perturbation: the asymmetric part completely reflects the electrons leading to vanishing conductance at zero temperature, while the flat potential remains transparent. We envisage a possible application of this unusual property in the sensitive measurement of local potential field gradients.

We study the dynamical magnetic susceptibility and find a very rich spectrum with several modes corresponding to a fundamental particle and its bound states.
