Article Synopsis
  • Trichinellosis, a common parasitic disease, necessitates research into new treatments and the immune response, particularly involving myrrh extract and myrrh-based silver nanoparticles, which have been previously underexplored.
  • The study tested the effectiveness of biosynthesized silver nanoparticles, myrrh extract, and albendazole on infected mice, analyzing histopathological changes and immune markers after three days of treatment post-infection.
  • Results indicated a significant decrease in adult worm counts across all treatment groups, with the silver nanoparticles achieving an 88.64% mortality rate in adult worms, alongside notable intestinal alterations found in infected untreated mice.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explored the effects of pumpkin seed oil on mice infected with the parasite Trichinella spiralis, focusing on its potential to reduce inflammation and parasite levels.
  • Mice were divided into five groups and treated with either pumpkin seed oil, albendazole, or served as controls, revealing that pumpkin seed oil significantly lowered parasite numbers and reduced inflammation in the intestines.
  • The results indicate that pumpkin seed oil not only decreases parasite burden but also lowers MMP-9 levels, highlighting its promise as an anti-inflammatory and antiparasitic treatment.

Background: This study investigates the genetic characteristics of Capillaria isolates from the infected fish, Bagrus bajad, and their relation to human Capillaria philippinensis using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD-PCR) analysis. Fifteen fish Capillaria were isolated and compared to identified human C. philippinensis using six primers: M-are, M-1, G-7, G-11, G-15, and G-18.

Ticks, particularly Rhipicephalus annulatus, pose significant threats to livestock, causing economic losses and transmitting various infectious diseases. This study aimed to evaluate the potential acaricidal properties of garlic oil and its nanoemulsion against ticks infesting cattle, Rhipicephalus annulatus through the evaluation of mortality rate and morphological changes of the treated ticks. The study also included prevalence, risk factors, and molecular confirmation of tick species.

In our pursuit of an alternative drug against Trichinella spiralis, we assessed the effectiveness of nanocurcumin in alleviating pathogenesis, parasitological factors, MMP-9 levels, and its expression in the enteral and parenteral phases of infection. The nanocurcumin particles, with a spherical shape and a size of 100 ± 20 nm, were used in the study. Eighty mice were divided into four groups: the control group, the untreated infected group, the nanocurcumin-treated group, and the albendazole-treated group.

Fish are a source of high-quality protein with low cholesterol, but they are susceptible to parasitic infections, which have a significant impact on aquaculture, in addition to their zoonotic potential. The present study estimated parasitic infections and evaluated the diversity of zoonotic parasites in freshwater Nile tilapia () in Assiut Governorate, Upper Egypt. A total of 300 samples were randomly collected from the Assiut Governorate.

Avian coccidiosis remains one of the major parasitic diseases that threaten the global poultry industry. Since prevention is superior to treatment, this study focuses on eliminating the infection outside the host. To determine their effect on the viability of Eimeria tenella oocysts in vitro, allicin and alcoholic garlic extract, which are natural, less toxic, and inexpensive products, were compared to KOH 5% (chemical disinfectant) using an in vitro culture system.
