Objectives: To study the quality of life and sexual function changes of women affected by severe cystocele and treated with the double transobturator tension-free approach.
Study Design: 23 women (mean age 60.6) with third and fourth degree cystocele (according to Baden and Walker classification) were monitored by Short Form-36 (SF-36) and Pelvic Organ Prolapse/Urinary Incontinenece Sexual Questionnaire (PISQ-12) before and 12 months after surgical treatment.
Introduction: Hyperandrogenism produces change in quality of life of women.
Aim: To prespectively determine the changes of the sexual behaviour of hyperandrogenic women using an oral contraceptive containing 30 microg ethinylestradiol and 2 mg chlormadinone acetate (EE/CMA).
Methods: Seventy-two volunteer women (age range, 18-32 years), with moderate to severe hirsutim and acne were treated with EE/CMA for 9 cycles.
Objectives: To study the effects of mini-invasive surgery using the tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) procedure and the transobturator tape (TOT) procedure in modifying clitoral blood flow in women affected by stress urinary incontinence.
Methods: The setting of the prospective open clinical study was the Urogynecologic Service of the Department of Microbiological and Gynecological Science, University of Catania School of Medicine (Catania, Italy). A total of 105 women underwent surgery; 42 (mean age 52.
Objectives: To verify whether sildenafil is effective in modifying clitoral blood flow in premenopausal women affected by type 1 diabetes.
Methods: The setting was a diabetes outpatient clinic in which 30 premenopausal women affected by type 1 diabetes treated with insulin therapy and 39 healthy premenopausal women participated in our prospective open-label clinical study. Each diabetic woman received a single oral dose of 100 mg sildenafil.
Objective: To verify whether sildenafil is effective in type 1 premenopausal women affected by sexual arousal disorder (SAD).
Design: Double-blind, crossover, placebo-controlled study.
Setting: Gynecological diabetic outpatient clinic and sexual clinic.
Background: The aim of this prospective study was to evaluate the effects of the new monophasic oral contraceptives on the audiological system in premenopausal women.
Methods: The auditory brainstem response (ABR) was measured in 94 women during the follicular, periovular and luteal phases of one menstrual cycle in which ovulation was confirmed using sonography and serum progesterone concentration. The latencies for waves I, III and V were determined, and the inter-peak intervals were calculated for waves I-III, I-V and III-V.
