In the period between March 2021 and December 2023, our Casa della Salute in Borgaretto (Torino) organized a clinic dedicated to vaccination against Covid-19 in its local and with its staff (medical, nursing and administrative). To try to inform the majority of the population about this activity, we used the social networks of the Casa della Salute (Facebook and website), the social networks of the Municipality of Beinasco and some of the local newspapers. The list of eligible subjects was shared with the ASL TO 3 and the invitation to vaccination was made via SMS from a dedicated platform, indicating the day and time of the appointment.

The fundamental question of how forces are generated in a motile cell, a lamellipodium, and a comet tail is the subject of this note. It is now well established that cellular motility results from the polymerization of actin, the most abundant protein in eukaryotic cells, into an interconnected set of filaments. We portray this process in a continuum mechanics framework, claiming that polymerization promotes a mechanical swelling in a narrow zone around the nucleation loci, which ultimately results in cellular or bacterial motility.

Cell motility-a cellular behavior of paramount relevance in embryonic development, immunological response, metastasis, or angiogenesis-demands a mechanical deformation of the cell membrane and influences the surface motion of molecules and their biochemical interactions. In this work, we develop a fully coupled multi-physics model able to capture and predict the protein flow on endothelial advecting plasma membranes. This work aims to overview multiphysics mechanobiological computational models for receptor dynamics along advecting cell membranes. Continuum and statistical models of receptor motility are the two main modeling methodologies identified in reviewing the state of the art. Within the former modeling class, a further subdivision based on different biological purposes and processes of proteins' motion is recognized; cell adhesion, cell contractility, endocytosis, and receptor relocations on advecting membranes are the most relevant biological processes identified in which receptor motility is pivotal.

Proxima is a molecular perception library designed with a double purpose: to be used with immersive molecular viewers (thus providing any required feature not supported by third party libraries) and to be integrated in workflow managers thus providing the functionalities needed for the first steps of molecular modeling studies. The virtual-reality framework AVATAR (Advanced Virtual Approach to Topological Analysis of Reactivity) for the immersive exploration of potential-energy landscapes is presented. AVATAR is based on modern consumer-grade virtual-reality technology and builds on two key concepts: (a) the reduction of the dimensionality of the potential-energy surface to two process-tailored, physically meaningful generalized coordinates, and (b) the analogy between the evolution of a chemical process and a pathway through valleys (potential wells) and mountain passes (saddle points) of the associated potential energy landscape. Examples including the discovery of competitive reaction paths in simple A + BC collisional systems and the interconversion between conformers in ring-puckering motions of flexible rings highlight the innovation potential that augmented and virtual reality convey for teaching, training, and supporting research in chemistry.

Is it possible to convert highly specialized research in the field of computational spectroscopy into robust and user-friendly aids to experiments and industrial applications? What kind of tools should be created to increase the interactions between researchers with different backgrounds and push towards new frontiers in computational chemistry? The outstanding advances in computational spectroscopy and the wide availability of computational and analytical tools are paving the route toward the study of problems that were previously difficult or impossible to solve and enable the imagination of even more ambitious targets for fundamental and applied research. The combination of new computer- and data-centric technologies is transforming data analysis from an uncommon and retrospective practice into a proactive process of strategic decision and action. This paper starts from these premises and proposes a perspective for a new cyberinfrastructure aimed at integrating developments in theory, algorithms and software with new tools for workflow management, data mining and visualization.

An integrated environment for the analysis of chemical bonding based on immersive virtual reality is presented. Using a multiscreen stereoscopic projection system, researchers are cast into the world of atoms and molecules, where they can visualize at a human scale the electron charge rearrangement (computed via state-of-the-art quantum-chemical methods) occurring on bond formation throughout the molecular region. Thanks to specifically designed features, such a virtual laboratory couples the immediacy of an immersive experience with a powerful, recently developed method yielding quantitative, spatially detailed pictures of the several charge flows involved in the formation of a chemical bond.

Affect experiencing (AE), defined as the facilitation of client in-session bodily arousal and visceral experiencing of affect, is a distinct theoretical process presumed to contribute to therapeutic improvement. This study examined the role of AE in the treatment of major depressive disorder by exploring its association to client distress and therapeutic alliance on a session-by-session basis. A case series design was used to conduct an intensive analysis of the treatment process of 4 clients who received time-limited intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy, 2 of whom were considered "recovered" and 2 who showed "no change" based upon posttreatment outcomes.

The role of Virtual Reality (VR) tools in molecular sciences is analyzed in this contribution through the presentation of the Caffeine software to the quantum chemistry community. Populations of most North American aerial insectivores have undergone steep population declines over the past 40 years but the relative importance of factors operating on breeding, wintering, or stopover sites remains unknown. We used archival light-level geolocators to track the phenology, movements and winter locations of barn swallows (Hirdundo rustica; n = 27) from populations across North America to determine their migratory connectivity. We identified an east-west continental migratory divide for barn swallows with birds from western regions (Washington State, USA (n = 8) and Saskatchewan, Canada (n = 5)) traveling shorter distances to wintering areas ranging from Oregon to northern Colombia than eastern populations (Ontario (n = 3) and New Brunswick (n = 10), Canada) which wintered in South America south of the Amazon basin.
