Compare two vancomycin dosing strategies in critical patients with methicillin-resistant (MRSA) infections, considering the heterogeneity of the dosing regimens administered and their implications for toxicity and efficacy. Longitudinal retrospective observational study in two patient cohorts (standard dosing vs dosing via Bayesian algorithms). The group of Bayesian algorithms received substantially higher and significantly heterogeneous doses, with an absence of nephrotoxicity.

Bacteria capable of gradually hydrolyzing chitin into N-acetylglucosamine monomers can have applications in the transformation of residues from shrimp and other crustaceans. The objective of the present study was to isolate, characterize and identify microorganisms with high chitinolytic activity.

Six of the twelve combinations tested formed films: A70Ch30, A70Ch30-15, A60Ch40, A60Ch40-15, A50Ch50, and A50Ch50-15. The A60Ch40-15 film showed the best physicochemical characteristics as well as the greatest in vitro antifungal activity.

Therefore, it is useful to search for molecular markers associated with these traits. We perform multiple regression analysis to associate previously generated data of alleles generated with 12 SSR (of cultivated cacao trees) with data obtained from chemical and sensory characterization (of beans) of plants grown in the southern region from Mexico.

We determined the presence of cytotoxic compounds in both whole plants and dedifferentiated cells. We evaluated the effect of auxin, cytokinins and light on callus induction in cotyledon explants.

Polyphenols and alkaloids are compounds that directly affect the flavor of the cocoa beans and indirectly on the flavor precursors. The alkaloids are associated with bitterness; its concentration is related to the cultivar and its modifying through the processing.

In this study, we analyzed sequence variation in the chloroplast DNA trnH-psbA intergenic spacer from 28 cacao trees from different farms in the Soconusco region in southern Mexico. Genetic relationships were established by two analysis approaches based on geographic origin (five populations) and genetic origin (based on a previous study).

The plants were monoecious with inflorescences of unisexual flowers.

Currently, breeding are found at a massive scale, and it is necessary to determine the optimum irradiation dose that releases sterile males with minimum damage to their sexual competitiveness. Under laboratory and field conditions, we evaluated the effects of gamma irradiation at doses of 0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 Gy on the sexual competitiveness of males, the induction of sterility in wild females and offspring survivorship.

For that reason, we assessed the diversity and population structure of Criollo-type trees (108 cultivars with Criollo phenotypic characteristics and 10 Criollo references) using 12 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. Cultivars were selected from 7 demes in the Soconusco region of southern Mexico.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and economic impact of efavirenz (EFV) dose adjustment by monitoring plasma concentrations and pharmacogenetic analysis of the 516G>T CYP2B6 polymorphism.
Materials & Methods: One hundred and ninety HIV patients treated with EFV were studied.
The genetic diversity of Mesoamerican populations of the biofuel plant Jatropha curcas, using the fatty acids of the seeds as chemical markers was studied. The oil content of the whole seed in 135 accessions from 38 sites varied between 8.020% and 54.
