Development and validation of UV spectrophotometric method for estimation of naringenin in phytosomal formulation: interlaboratory comparison, capability, and statistical analysis.

The goal of the current work was to establish a simple, reproducible, and reliable UV spectrophotometric method for determining naringenin in phytosomal formulations. The solvent methanol was optimized and spectrophotometric analysis was carried out at 289 nm. The proposed method was also validated for linearity, specificity, accuracy, precision, ruggedness, and robustness in accordance with the International Council for Harmonisation (ICH).

Documentation of vaccine wastage in two different geographic contexts under the universal immunization program in India.

Background: Government of India is introducing new and relatively costly vaccines under immunization program. Monitoring of vaccine wastage is needed to guide the program implementation and forecasting. Under pilot introduction of rotavirus vaccine in two districts both 5- and 10-doses vials were used, which was considered as an opportunity for documenting the wastage.

Pediatric idiopathic macular hole - A case report and review of literature.

Macular hole in the pediatric age group is usually post-traumatic unlike, the adult counterpart. Herein we describe a case of idiopathic macular hole occurring in a 9-year-old male who presented to us with complaints of diminution of vision in OD (oculus dextrus) for 2 months. The child underwent 25-gauge pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) with internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling.

Swept-Source OCT Analysis of the Margin of Choroidal Coloboma: New Insights.

Purpose: To study the retinal architecture and vitreoretinal interface at the edge of choroidal coloboma using swept-source OCT.

Design: Prospective observational case series at a tertiary eye care center.

Participants: Patients with choroidal coloboma treated at an ophthalmology department and fulfilling the inclusion criteria of the study.

Sericin Inhibits Devitrification of Amorphous Drugs.

The purpose of the present investigation was to analyze devitrification of amorphous drugs such as lornoxicam, meloxicam, and felodipine in the presence of sericin. The binary solid dispersions comprising varying mass ratios of drug and sericin were subject to amorphization by spray drying, solvent evaporation, ball milling, and physical mixing. Further, obtained solid dispersions (SDs) were characterized by HPLC, ATR-FTIR, HNMR, molecular docking, accelerated stability study at 40°C and 75 ± 2% RH (XRD and DSC), and in vitro dissolution studies.

Retinopathy of prematurity in oculocutaneous albinism.

We report a case of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in an infant with oculocutaneous albinism (OCA), with the challenges faced in diagnosis, and subsequent management. Poor fundus contrast and blanching of retinal vessels on indentation caused significant visualization problems in detection of ridge and extraretinal vessel proliferation. Careful examination revealed zone 2 Stage 3 ROP with preplus disease in both eyes.

Short-term incidence and management of glaucoma after successful surgery for stage 4 retinopathy of prematurity.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to describe the short-term incidence, clinical features, and management of glaucoma in children after successful surgery for stage 4 retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).

Methods: The retrospective study included all eyes undergoing successful surgery for stage 4 ROP with good outcomes at a tertiary eye care center between June 2014 and June 2016. Cases developing postoperative glaucoma underwent examination under anesthesia for measurement of intraocular pressures (IOP), corneal diameters, Retcam-assisted fundus imaging, and gonioscopy.

Giant Retinal Tear With Retinal Detachment in Regressed Aggressive Posterior Retinopathy of Prematurity Treated by Laser.

Rhegmatogenous retinal detachment after successfully regressed retinopathy of prematurity is a rare occurrence. Late onset rhegmatogenous retinal detachment has been reported infrequently. The authors report a case of aggressive posterior retinopathy of prematurity that underwent uneventful regression after laser photocoagulation and later developed an inoperable closed funnel retinal detachment due to a giant retinal tear.

Experimental Validation of Antidiabetic Potential of (L.) Domin: An Indigenous Medicinal Plant.

The present study was undertaken to evaluate antidiabetic and antioxidant activities of root extract against streptozotocin induced diabetes in experimental rats to scientifically validate its use against diabetes in some parts of India. Ethanolic extract, showing the highest activity in in vitro experiments, was prepared in saline and administered orally to streptozotocin induced albino Wistar diabetic rats for 21 days. Biochemical parameters liver and muscles glycogen and in vivo antioxidant activity in normal, diabetic control, standard (metformin) and treated animals were determined and compared.

Bivalent transition metal complexes of ONO donor hydrazone ligand: Synthesis, structural characterization and antimicrobial activity.

Mononuclear transition metal complexes of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) with a new hydrazone ligand derived from pyrazine-2-carbohydrazide and 2-hydroxyacetophenone have been synthesized. The isolated complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, spectral and analytical methods including elemental analyses, IR, diffuse reflectance, (1)H-NMR, mass spectra, molar conductance, magnetic moment, ESR, XRD, TG and SEM analysis. From the elemental analyses data, the stoichiometry of the complexes was found to be 1:1 (metal:ligand) having the general formulae [M(HL)(Cl)(H2O)2], [M=Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II)] and [M(L)(H2O)], [M=Zn(II) and Cd(II)].

Ciliary body metastasis in a patient with non-small cell lung carcinoma--incidental detection with 18F-FDG PET/CT.

Ciliary body metastasis in a case of lung cancer is very rare. Intraocular metastasis by any cancer most commonly involves choroid followed by iris and ciliary body. We present a case of a 71-year-old male with non-small cell lung cancer who was found to have an 18F-FDG avid right lung mass.
