Background: Although routine monitoring is not needed for direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), knowing if a clinically relevant DOAC level is present can be critical, especially in cases of severe bleeding or urgent surgery. Rapid assays to exclude these levels are necessary but not widely available.
Objectives: To determine the test performance of MRX PT DOAC for excluding clinically relevant DOAC drug levels.

Catastrophic antiphospholipid syndrome (CAPS) is a rare but life-threatening form of antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) defined by the rapid onset of large and small vessel thrombosis occurring simultaneously across multiple sites, resulting in multiorgan dysfunction. The presence of underlying immune dysfunction causing activation of coagulation and, in many cases, abnormal complement regulation predisposes these patients to thrombotic events. CAPS is often preceded by triggering factors such as infection, surgery, trauma, anticoagulation discontinuation, and malignancy.

Methods: Participants with allergic asthma who demonstrated increased sputum eosinophils and LAR at screening were randomised to benralizumab 30 mg or matched placebo given every 4 weeks for 8 weeks (3 doses).
A distinct subset of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is characterized by the presence of the Philadelphia chromosome (Ph+), due to reciprocal translocation t(9;22)(q34;q11.2). This chromosomal rearrangement leads to the fusion of the breakpoint cluster region (BCR) gene on chromosome 22 with the ABL1 gene on chromosome 9, generating the fusion gene.

Despite a majority of patients responding to corticosteroid therapy and T2 biologics, there remains a subset that have recurrent asthma exacerbations, highlighting a need for additional therapies to fully ameliorate airway eosinophilia. Group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2) are considered key players in the pathogenesis of eosinophilic asthma through the production of copious amounts of type 2 cytokines, namely IL-5 and IL-13.

In the case of Islam and the assisted reproductive technology (ART) market, core cultural values concerning procreation, family and lineage come into direct conflict with the potential consumer demand generated by new ART technologies. Shaped by the character of multiple Islamic modernities and the authority structures of religion and state, it is the Shi'a-Sunni divide which most illuminates the politics of emergence driving the different Islamic responses to those cultural tensions.

Purpose: To assess the clinical application and alignment agreement of SGRT with CT-on-rails (CTOR) and kV-2D image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) for breast treatment using proton therapy.
Purpose To investigate the potential to perform linear accelerator output quality assurance (QA) with the ScandiDos Delta4 Discover (Discover) onboard transmission detector. Materials and methods Using the ScandiDos Delta4 software (version 8), a conversion factor from raw signal to output was obtained via cross-calibration with an accredited dosimetry calibration laboratory (ADCL) calibrated ionization chamber for each photon energy, including flattening-filter-free (FFF) energies. With the calibration factor for 6 MV (6x) photon energy, output measurements were taken with both the Delta4 Discover and ion chamber and compared for output as a function of gantry angle and dose-rate dependence.

Methods: Three technologies included in the Varian Identify system were evaluated: patient biometric authentication, treatment accessory device identification, and surface-guided radiation therapy (SGRT) function.
Background: It has been shown that a significant reduction of mean heart dose and left anterior descending artery (LAD) dose can be achieved through the use of DIBH for left breast radiation therapy. Surface-guided DIBH has been widely adopted during the last decade, and there are mainly three commercially available SGRT systems. The reports of the performance of a newly released SGRT system for DIBH application are currently very limited.

However, abdominal fat content has visceral and subcutaneous components, which may affect setup errors differently. This study aims to analyze a potential workflow for characterizing adipose content and distribution in the region of the target that would allow a quickly calculated metric of abdominal fat content to stratify these patients.

Materials And Methods: Fetal dose measurements were performed for all three modes of dose delivery on the Mevion S250i Proton therapy system with HYPERSCAN (static aperture, dynamic aperture and uncollimated). Standard treatment plans were created in RayStation for a left-sided brain lesion treated with a vertex field, a left lateral field, and a posterior field.
An important source of uncertainty in proton therapy treatment planning is the assignment of stopping-power ratio (SPR) from CT data. A commercial product is now available that creates an SPR map directly from dual-energy CT (DECT). This paper investigates the use of this new product in proton treatment planning and compares the results to the current method of assigning SPR based on a single-energy CT (SECT).

Objective: Describe the prevalence and clinical course of patients hospitalised with COVID-19 based on oxygenation and pneumonia status at presentation and determine the incidence of emergent hypoxaemia or radiographic pneumonia during admission.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted using a Canadian regional registry.
Background: Healthcare services is an expanding international market with which national healthcare systems engage, and from which they benefit, to greater and lesser degrees. This study examines the case of the China-England engagement in healthcare services as a vehicle for illuminating the way in which such market relationships are constructed.
Findings: China and England have different approaches to the international healthcare services market.
Originally intended for life-saving salvage therapy, the use of temporary mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices has become increasingly widespread in a variety of clinical settings in the contemporary era. Their use as a short-term, prophylactic support vehicle has expanded to include procedures in the catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology suite, operating room and intensive care unit. Accordingly, MCS device design and technology continue to develop at a rapid pace.

Localized autoimmune responses have been reported in patients with severe eosinophilic asthma, characterized by eosinophil degranulation and airway infections. To determine the presence of autoantibodies against macrophage scavenger receptors within the airways and their effects on macrophage function and susceptibility to infection. Anti-EPX (eosinophil peroxidase), anti-MARCO (macrophage receptor with collagenous structure) IgG titers, and T1 and T2 (type 1/2) cytokines were measured in 221 sputa from 143 well-characterized patients with severe asthma.
