Rare manifestations of cutaneous diphtheria: a case report.

Background: This case report presents an exceptionally rare and atypical presentation of diphtheria in a 17-year-old female of Hausa ethnicity residing in an area with an elevated incidence within Kano State, Nigeria. By the end of 39th epidemiological week of 2023, only two cases of cutaneous diphtheria have been reported among 5,811 cases managed at MMSH diphtheria treatment center (DTC), representing approximately 0.035% of all diphtheria cases during that time period.

Haptic touch modulates size adaptation aftereffects on the hand.

When we interact with objects using our hands, we derive their size through our skin. Prolonged exposure to an object leads to a perceptual size aftereffect: adapting to a larger/smaller object makes a subsequently perceived object to appear smaller/larger than its actual size. This phenomenon has been described as haptic as tactile sensations with kinesthetic feedback are involved.

Non-contiguous Rare Presentation of Spinal Tuberculosis: A Case Report.

Spinal tuberculosis (TB), also known as Pott's disease, is a severe form of extrapulmonary TB that affects the vertebral bodies and intervertebral discs. While the typical presentation involves the contiguous involvement of multiple vertebrae, atypical forms, such as non-contiguous multilevel spinal TB (NMLST), can occur. However, diagnosing spinal TB poses challenges due to its gradual onset, nonspecific symptoms, and varying imaging results.

Early diagnosis of Parkinson's disease: A combined method using deep learning and neuro-fuzzy techniques.

Predicting Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) in Total- UPDRS and Motor-UPDRS clinical scales is an important part of controlling PD. Computational intelligence approaches have been used effectively in the early diagnosis of PD by predicting UPDRS. In this research, we target to present a combined approach for PD diagnosis using an ensemble learning approach with the ability of online learning from clinical large datasets.

Background: Leprosy or Hansen disease is a chronic infectious disease that causes social stigma due to its deforming bodily appearance and physical disability. It has a wide spectrum of presentation affecting diagnosis.
