Establishment of Nurse Manager Leadership Competencies to Support Clinicians in Evidence-Based Practice.

Objective: This 2-part study was conducted to validate nurse manager (NM) leadership competencies that support clinicians in using evidence-based practice (EBP).

Background: Numerous studies validate the critical need for NM support among clinicians seeking to engage in EBP.

Methods: In phase 1, a Delphi study was conducted to establish the validity of a set of NM leadership competencies that support EBP.

Online Teaching Efficacy: A Product of Professional Development and Ongoing Support.

The purpose of the pilot study was to investigate the perceptions of online teaching efficacy of nursing faculty who teach courses in which 51% or more of the content is offered online. Bandura's psychological construct of self-efficacy served as the conceptual framework. The research survey was administered to nursing faculty in a state university system located in the southeastern United States of America, plus two private universities.

Video analysis tool system: implementation and evaluation of use with clinical nursing assessments of older adults.

The purpose of this project was to implement and evaluate the Video Analysis Tool (VAT) system, a tool for capturing and analyzing video evidence of students' clinical performance. Through the VAT system, nursing student dyads from 4 universities used a video camera, a computer, and a tripod in the residences of older adults to record interactions and psychosocial assessments of older adult clients. Using their recordings to compare their clinical activities with predefined clinical objectives derived from gerontological nursing standards, they made video clips of their assessments to demonstrate the required outcomes.
