In this work, a biosensor was constructed by physical adsorption of the isolated endophytic fungus Eupenicillium shearii FREI-39 esterase on halloysite, using graphite powder, multi-walled carbon nanotubes and mineral oil for the determination of carbofuran pesticide by inhibition of the esterase using square-wave voltammetry (SWV). Specific esterase activities were determined each 2 days over a period of 15 days of growth in four different inoculation media. The highest specific activity was found on 6th day, with 33.

Sepiolite clay mineral was used as a support for the immobilisation of the peroxidase enzyme from ingá-cipó (Inga edulis Mart.) and was used with graphite powder, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs), mineral oil, and nafion 0.5% (v/v) in the development of a new biosensor for the determination of the antioxidant tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) by square-wave voltammetry (SWV).

A biosensor based on atemoya peroxidase immobilised on modified nanoclay was developed for the determination of glyphosate by the enzyme inhibition method. The inhibitor effect of the biocide results in a decrease in the current response of the hydroquinone that was used as a phenolic substrate to obtain the base signal. The biosensor was constructed using graphite powder, multiwalled carbon nanotubes, peroxidase immobilised on nanoclay and mineral oil.

A material based on cellulose acetate (CA) and the room temperature ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (BMI·N(Tf)(2)) was developed and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, electron dispersive spectroscopy and infrared analysis. Laccase (Lac) from Aspergillus oryzae was immobilized in this material to investigate the behavior of methyldopa by square-wave voltammetry. Under optimized conditions, the Lac biosensor based on CA/BMI·N(Tf)(2) exhibited an excellent electrocatalytic performance: the analytical curve showed good linear range for methyldopa concentrations from 34.

A biosensor based on alfalfa sprout (Medicago sativa) homogenate as a source of peroxidase is proposed for the determination of thiodicarb by square-wave voltammetry. This enzyme was immobilized in self-assembled monolayers of l-cysteine on a gold electrode. Several parameters were investigated to evaluate the optimum conditions for operation of the biosensor.

A biosensor based on the ionic liquid, 1-n-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate containing dispersed iridium nanoparticles (Ir-BMI.PF(6)) and polyphenol oxidase was constructed. This enzyme was obtained from the sugar apple (Annona squamosa), immobilized in chitosan ionically crosslinked with oxalate.

Self-assembled monolayers of a nickel(II) complex and 3-mercaptopropionic acid on a gold electrode were obtained for determination of catechin by square wave voltammetry. The complex [Ni(II)L] with L=[N-(methyl)-N'-(2-pyridylmethyl)-N,N'-bis(3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzyl)-1,3-propanediamine[nickel(II)] was synthesized and characterized by (1)H NMR, IR, and electronic spectroscopies and electrochemical methods. The optimized conditions obtained for the electrodes were 0.
