In this study, we analyze both linear and nonlinear color mappings by training on versions of a curated dataset collected in a controlled campus environment. We experiment with color space and color resolution to assess model performance in vehicle recognition tasks. Color encodings can be designed in principle to highlight certain vehicle characteristics or compensate for lighting differences when assessing potential matches to previously encountered objects.

Vehicle re-identification is a demanding and challenging task in automated surveillance systems. The goal of vehicle re-identification is to associate images of the same vehicle to identify re-occurrences of the same vehicle. Robust re-identification of individual vehicles requires reliable and discriminative features extracted from specific parts of the vehicle.

In this work, a framework is proposed for decision fusion utilizing features extracted from vehicle images and their detected wheels. Siamese networks are exploited to extract key signatures from pairs of vehicle images. Our approach then examines the extent of reliance between signatures generated from vehicle images to robustly integrate different similarity scores and provide a more informed decision for vehicle matching.

Entropy-based divergence measures have proven their effectiveness in many areas of computer vision and pattern recognition. However, the complexity of their implementation might be prohibitive in resource-limited applications, as they require estimates of probability densities which are expensive to compute directly for high-dimensional data. In this paper, we investigate the usage of a non-parametric distribution-free metric, known as the Henze-Penrose test statistic to obtain bounds for the $k$ -nearest neighbors ( $k$ -NN) classification accuracy.

Medical imaging equipment (MIE) is the baseline of providing patient diagnosis in healthcare facilities. However, that type of equipment poses high risk for patients, operators, and environment in terms of technology and application. Considering risk management in MIE management is rarely covered in literature.
