Aim: Neurofilament light chain protein (NEFL), is defined as a structural protein which exists particularly in axones of neurons and is released to the cerum in consequence of neuroaxonal damage. The aim of this study is to investigate the peripheral cerumNEFLlevels of children and adolescents with early onset schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

Method: In this study, we evaluated serum levels of NEFL in children and adolescents (13-17 years) with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and healthy control group.

Dynamic thiol-disulfide homeostasis is disturbed in hepatitis B virus-related chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis.

Background/aim: Thiol-disulfide homeostasis is an important antioxidant defense mechanism. This study was conducted to investigate dynamic thiol-disulfide homeostasis in patients with hepatitis B virus-related chronic hepatitis and liver cirrhosis. Materials and methods: Seventy-one treatment-naive patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB), 50 patients with hepatitis B virusassociated liver cirrhosis, and 45 healthy controls were included in the study.
