Objectives: Septic arthritis (SA) is a serious bacterial infection that must be treated efficiently and timely. The large number of culture-negative cases makes local epidemiological data important. Accordingly, this study aimed to evaluate the etiology, clinical characteristics, and therapeutic approach of SA in children in Turkiye, emphasizing the role of real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) techniques in the diagnosis.

A cross-sectional study was conducted with the involvement of 19 medical centers across Turkey and 570 infants. The majority of the patients were male (58.

On February 2nd, 2022, inpatients and outpatients infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) were included in the study from 12 cities and 24 centers in Turkey. Of 8605 patients on February 2nd, 2022, in participating centers, 706 (8.

HCW vaccination rates are not optimal in many countries; hence, compulsory vaccination policies have been implemented in some countries. Although these policies are effective and necessary under certain conditions, resolving HCWs' hesitancies and misconceptions about vaccines is crucial.

Background: Acute otitis media (AOM) is one of the most common childhood infections. Ear pain, the main symptom of AOM, results in parents frequently seeking medical assistance for their children. The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of topical 1% lidocaine ear drops administered with oral analgesics with that of oral analgesics alone.

Patients And Methods: A total of 87 patients (50 males, 37 females; median age: 12 years; range, 6.6 to 16 years) suspected of having COVID-19 at our pediatric rheumatology clinic between March 11th and October 15th 2020 were retrospectively analyzed.
Objectives: Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is a rare but severe condition resulting in excessive response of the immune system after SARS-CoV-2 infection. We report a single-center cohort of children with MIS-C, describing the spectrum of presentation, therapies, clinical course, and short-term outcomes.
Methods: This is a prospective observational study from to a tertiary pediatric rheumatology center including patients (aged 1 month to 21 years) diagnosed with MIS-C between April 2020-April 2021.
Background: Understanding SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence among health care personnel is important to explore risk factors for transmission, develop elimination strategies and form a view on the necessity and frequency of surveillance in the future.
Methods: We enrolled 4927 health care personnel working in pediatric units at 32 hospitals from 7 different regions of Turkey in a study to determine SARS Co-V-2 seroprevalence after the first peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. A point of care serologic lateral flow rapid test kit for immunoglobulin (Ig)M/IgG was used.
The frequency of bacterial factors causing central nervous system infections has decreased as a result of the development of our national immunization program. In this study, it is aimed to obtain the data of our local surveillance by defining the viral etiology in cases diagnosed with meningoencephalitis for 1 year. Previously healhty 186 children, who applied with findings suggesting viral meningoencephalitis to 8 different tertiary health centers between August 2018 and August 2019, in Istanbul, were included.

The aim of this study is to explore a novel approach towards developing new endpoints for neurodevelopmental disorders, in this case for ARID1B-related ID. In this study, twelve subjects with ARID1B-related ID and twelve age-matched controls were included in this observational case-control study.

Aim: To investigate the role of PWV as a determinant of hypotension in older patients.
Methods: A cohort of 344 subjects came to our Outpatient Clinic, free of cancer, acute myocardial infarction or stroke, atrial fibrillation, renal, hepatic or cardiac failure, secondary hypertension, or thyroid disease.
Purpose: The posterior branch of the medial antebrachial cutaneous nerve (MACN) is at risk to be damaged during cubital tunnel surgery. The purpose of this study was to identify the location of the posterior branch of the MACN (PBMACN) in relation to surgical landmarks pertinent in cubital tunnel surgery.
Methods: We performed an anatomical study on 20 limbs from 13 fresh cadavers.
Unlabelled: We aimed to report causes of readmission 30 and 90 days following a total hip arthroplasty (THA) using the direct anterior approach (DAA).
Methods: Three hundred and two patients (335 hips) underwent a DAA-THA for primary osteoarthritis.
Results: The main reasons for 30 and 90-day readmission were wound related problems, dislocation (rate: 0.
Bone fixation of the two roots improves meniscal allograft positioning as compared to simple meniscal peripheral wall fixation. An all-arthroscopic 4-point bone fixation technique could provide rigid primary fixation and a more stable allograft. The technique was implemented on 8 fresh cadavers, under arthroscopy, via tibial bone tunnels at the posterior root, popliteal hiatus, anteromedial segment and anterior root, with cortical buttons for tibial graft fixation.

High-visibility Ramsey fringes are observed for delays larger than 100 ps, thus demonstrating a potential resolving power >10(5) at this wavelength.

Differently from previously reported studies based on frequency chirp measurements, we use extreme ultraviolet interferometry as the most natural and direct way to measure phase shifts. Our approach has the important advantage of allowing us to investigate the effects associated to both the main quantum paths involved in the emission of a particular harmonic, thus offering a particularly clear and simple picture of the underlying electronic dynamics.

We obtained enhancement by a factor of 6 in the third-harmonic yield by simply limiting the laser beam with an iris. Higher enhancement factors (up to 16) were obtained with a Fresnel zone plate.

Raman sidebands of the ultrashort pulse spanning 360 THz are generated with an efficiency of >5%. We show that the mechanism permitting the sidebands to be generated is the preparation of a significant vibrational coherence in the medium that is robust to disturbance by an intense short pulse.

We report on an infant with multi-system disease including liver fibrosis, right microphthalmia with cataract, interstitial pneumonitis, and hyperechoic lesions in the basal ganglia and in the periventricular and thalamic regions. Prenatal ascites with hepatomegaly concomitantly with detection of cytomegalovirus (CMV) DNA in the amniotic fluid, following recurrent maternal CMV infection, had been shown. Although CMV culture and DNA detection were negative in the urine, the infant was given foscarnet because CMV infection was demonstrated in the liver by DNA detection and immunohistochemical staining.
