This study investigates the use of near-infrared fluorescence imaging (NIFI) as an alternative to intraoperative parathyroid hormone (ioPTH) measurement in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHP) due to parathyroid adenoma (PA) with two preoperative imaging examinations in agreement on the position of the altered parathyroid gland. Fifty patients who underwent minimally invasive parathyroidectomy (MIP) from March 2021 to April 2024 were enrolled. MIPs utilised both NIFI and ioPTH, comparing the time to adenoma excision with NIFI against the total surgical time, including ioPTH measurement wait time.

Purpose: To identify predictors of making progress toward lifestyle change among patients who participate in a lifestyle medicine program.
Methods: This was a single-center, retrospective cohort study of 205 adults who enrolled in a goal-directed, individualized, interprofessional lifestyle medicine program.
Background: Changes in lifestyle habits can reduce morbidity and mortality, but not everyone who can benefit from lifestyle intervention is ready to do so.
Purpose: To describe characteristics of patients who did and did not engage with a lifestyle medicine program, and to identify predictors of engagement.
Methods: This was a single-center, retrospective cohort study of 276 adult patients who presented for consultation to a goal-directed, individualized, interprofessional lifestyle medicine program.
Purpose: Managing postoperative complications is crucial in reconstructive surgery. Indocyanine green fluorescence video-angiography (ICGA) aids in assessing flap vascularization intraoperatively, potentially reducing complications.
Methods: An ambispective study enrolled head and neck cancer patients undergoing ablative surgery with soft tissue reconstruction.
Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is currently considered as a viable alternative to elective neck dissection (END) for the management of cN0 oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OCSCC). However, some difficulties were detected in sentinel lymph node (SLN) identification in floor of mouth (FOM) and ventral tongue tumors because of the so-called "shine-through radioactivity" of the injection site, which may mask nodal hotspots in proximity. We assessed the feasibility and the potential strengths of combining Tc-Tilmanocept with indocyanine green (ICG) fluorescence lympho-angiography in a dedicated multimodal protocol for SLNB in T1/T2N0 oral cancer to evaluate the synergistic role of each of these two tracers in providing the appropriate sensitivity and ease of learning, even in such a critical anatomical subsite.

White light can be obtained by several types of materials and their combinations, but single component emitters remain rare and desirable towards thinner devices that are, therefore, easier to control and that require fewer manufacturing steps. We have designed a series of dysprosium(iii)-based luminescent metallacrowns (MCs) to achieve this goal.

We used pre-intervention data from 119 participants from the Fit & Active Seniors trial. Multivariate pattern analysis revealed two seeds associated with MV-PA: right superior frontal gyrus (SFG; spanning frontoparietal [FPN] and ventral attention networks [VAN]) and right precentral (PrG) and postcentral gyri (PoG) of the somatosensory network (SN).

A multiscale method proposed elsewhere for reconstructing plausible 3D configurations of the chromatin in cell nuclei is recalled, based on the integration of contact data from Hi-C experiments and additional information coming from ChIP-seq, RNA-seq and ChIA-PET experiments. Provided that the additional data come from independent experiments, this kind of approach is supposed to leverage them to complement possibly noisy, biased or missing Hi-C records. When the different data sources are mutually concurrent, the resulting solutions are corroborated; otherwise, their validity would be weakened.

TPE is not immune to complications, the most common of which being leakage through or around the prosthesis. When dealing with an enlarged tracheoesophageal fistula, the management can be either conservative or surgical.

However, questions remain regarding the mechanistic role of CRF on cognitive and brain health. The purposes of this study were to investigate if higher pre-intervention CRF was associated with greater change in functional brain connectivity during an exercise intervention and to determine if the magnitude of change in connectivity was related to better post-intervention cognitive performance.

Stakeholders advocate for improving breast cancer survivorship outcomes by increasing clinicians' knowledge of cancer survivorship issues. In Missouri, advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) in nononcology settings provide routine survivorship care to PHBC; however, little is known about how they approach survivorship care planning for PHBC.

Lifestyle interventions targeting energy balance (ie, diet, exercise) are critical for optimizing the health and well-being of cancer survivors. Despite their benefits, access to these interventions is limited, especially in underserved populations, including older people, minority populations and those living in rural and remote areas. Telehealth has the potential to improve equity and increase access.

Decreases in fractional anisotropy (FA) and increases in mean (MD) and radial diffusivity (RD) have been consistently reported in healthy aging and neurodegenerative diseases. To date, DTI parameters have been studied individually (e.

The aim of this study was to analyze AET side effects and their impact on adherence to treatment.
Methods: A total of 373 breast cancer patients treated with AET filled out a specific questionnaire during their follow up visits at the Breast Unit of our Centre.
Background: Survival benefits of self-reported recreational physical activity (PA) during cancer survivorship are well-documented in common cancer types, yet there are limited data on the associations between accelerometer-derived PA of all domains, sedentary behavior, and mortality in large, diverse cohorts of cancer survivors.
Methods: Participants included adults who reported a cancer diagnosis in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and wore an accelerometer for up to 7 days in 2003-2006. Participants were followed for subsequent mortality through 2015.
Background: While technology advances have increased the popularity of remote interventions in underserved and rural cancer communities, less is understood about technology access and preferences for home-based physical activity programs in this cancer survivor population.
Purpose: To determine access, preferences, and needs, for a home-based physical activity program in rural cancer survivors.
Methods: A Qualtrics Research Panel was recruited to survey adults with cancer across the United States.

Purpose: Near-infrared autofluorescence is a new technology in thyroid surgery to better localize and preserve parathyroid glands. The purpose of this study is to assess if the adoption of NIR-AF can improve in short-, medium-, and long-term post-operative calcium and PTH levels compared to conventional "naked eye" surgery in patients undergoing TT for benign or malignant conditions.
Methods: 134 patients undergone total thyroidectomy between January 2020 and June 2022; 67 were treated with conventional thyroidectomy, the other 67 underwent surgery adopting an autofluorescence detecting device.
The effect of ligands' energy levels on thermal dependence of lanthanide emission was examined to create new molecular nanothermometers. A series of LnGaLL metallacrowns (shorthand LnL), where Ln = Gd, Tb, or Sm (HL' = salicylhydroxamic acid (Hshi), 5-methylsalicylhydroxamic acid (Hmshi), 5-methoxysalicylhydroxamic acid (Hmoshi), and 3-hydroxy-2-naphthohydroxamic acid (Hnha)) and HL″ = isophthalic acid (Hiph), was synthesized and characterized. Within the series, ligand-centered singlet state (S) energy levels ranged from 23,300 to 27,800 cm, while triplet (T) energy levels ranged from 18,150 to 21,980 cm.
