MiRNA-150 altered expression has been linked to the development and tumorigenesis of several cancers including CCA.

Fast and Efficient Method to Obtain Tagitinin F by Photocyclization of Tagitinin C.

There is some evidence in the literature of the photocyclization reaction of Tagitinin C (1) to Tagitinin F (2). Compound 2 has high pharmacological potential, but it is not easy to obtain, while compound 1 is easily obtained from a widespread plant, Tithonia diversifolia. Among different reaction conditions monitored, one was found that allowed the cyclization of 1 into 2 in <15 min in a photo-dependent reaction.

Background: Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) Hox transcript antisense intergenic RNA ( HOTAIR) has been suggested to be implicated in gastric cancer tumorigenesis and progression; however, little is known about the role of the plasma HOTAIR in gastric cancer diagnosis and prognosis.

Objective: The current study was aimed at investigating the clinical relevance of plasma long non-coding HOTAIR as a non-invasive diagnostic biomarker in gastric cancer.

Methods: Plasma HOTAIR expression was measured in 50 patients with newly diagnosed gastric cancer and 50 age- and sex-matched healthy controls using quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction.

Equal numbers of subjects were enrolled in each of three clinically defined groups: those with HCV-related cirrhosis (HCV-cirrhosis), those with HCV-HCC, and a control group of age- and sex-matched healthy volunteers with no evidence of liver disease.

Taking Stock of Parent Education in the Family Courts: Envisioning a Public Health Model.

The paper reviewed the development and current status of the parent education movement in the Family Courts. Parent education programs are now being implemented in courts throughout the United States and have a high level of public acceptance; however, a stronger research methodology to evaluate the effects and continued work to align the goals with the content and teaching strategies of these programs are needed. A new conceptual framework is proposed for parent education, which views divorce as a public health problem for children as well as a legal issue.

Novel MicroRNAs regulating proliferation and apoptosis in uterine papillary serous carcinomas.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenous, non-coding RNA transcripts that regulate gene expression. Here, we report 175 putative novel miRNAs identified in uterine cancers profiled by Next Generation Sequencing. Our data indicate that one of these putative miRNAs (BCM-173) is conserved across multiple species and is expressed at levels similar to known human miRNAs.

Motor neuron disease and acquired axonal neuropathy association in HIV infection: case report and update.

Background: A possible viral etiology has been documented in the genesis of motor neuron disorders and acquired peripheral neuropathies, mainly due to the vulnerability of peripheral nerves and the anterior horn to certain viruses. In recent years, several reports show association of HIV infection with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis - Syndrome, Motor Neuron Diseases and peripheral neuropathies.

Objective: To report a case of an association between Motor Neuron Disease and Acquired Axonal neuropathy in HIV infection, and describe the findings of neurological examination, cerebrospinal fluid, neuroimaging and electrophysiology.
