The management of cadmium-rich sludges, which are pollutant residues from the phosphorus industry, including the valorization of these sludges through the selective recovery of heavy metals, is a promising prospect. However, there is still a need to develop recovery methods that are both optimized for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmentally friendly. This study aims to enhance cadmium extraction from the polymetallic sludge by optimizing the processes of sulfuric acid (SA) leaching and sodium sulfide precipitation.

Three different cadmiferous solid residues (according to the nature of the purification process of the PA: BG, BC and BS) were collected from an industrial site located in the south of Tunisia. The mineralogical study showed the predominance of anhydrite, accompanied by quartz, malladrite; calcium sulfate hemihydrate and fluorapophyllite.

To detect the genetic factors associated with seed dormancy in rice, we conducted a QTL analysis using chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSLs) derived from a cross between Nona Bokra (strong dormancy) and Koshihikari (weak dormancy). Comparison of the levels of seed dormancy of the CSSLs and their recurrent parent Koshihikari revealed that two chromosomal regions-on the short arms of chromosomes 1 and 6-were involved in the variation in seed dormancy.
