Hypouricemia is defined as a serum uric acid concentration of ≤ 2.0 mg/dL or 119 μmol/L. Hypouricemia may occur secondarily to a number of underlying conditions, including severe hepatocellular disease, neoplasia, defective renal tubular reabsorption of uric acid, inherited metabolic defect in purine metabolism, and drugs.

Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS) is a severe and rare syndrome that causes life-threatening organ dysfunctions. Here, we present the case of a 10-year-old child who developed a pruritic erythematous eruption, fever, facial edema, and lymphadenopathy seven days after receiving intravenous metronidazole (20 mg/kg/day), vancomycin (50 mg/kg/day), and cefotaxime (200 mg/kg/day). Laboratory tests showed eosinophilia and liver damage as well as positive parvovirus B19 IgM and IgG indicating viral reactivation.

The quiet-time solar wind electrons feature non-thermal characteristics when viewed from the perspective of their velocity distribution functions. They typically have an appearance of being composed of a denser thermal "core" population plus a tenuous energetic "halo" population. At first, such a feature was empirically fitted with the kappa velocity space distribution function, but ever since the ground-breaking work by Tsallis, the space physics community has embraced the potential implication of the kappa distribution as reflecting the non-extensive nature of the space plasma.

Antipsychotics can cause hematologic disorders, and they can have life-threatening consequences. Risperidone, less commonly associated with hematologic adverse effects, is an atypical antipsychotic medication used to treat conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and irritability associated with autism. While risperidone primarily affects the central nervous system, it can have some hematologic adverse effects, although these are relatively rare.

Hiccups, also called hiccoughs, are sudden, involuntary and rapid expulsion of air from the lungs with synchronous closure of the glottis causing blockade of the air flow. Hiccups may be induced by a multitude of etiologies such as central nervous disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, cardiovascular disorders, psychogenic factors, and metabolic disorders. Hiccups induced by medications are rare.

By avoiding ensemble averaging, single-molecule methods provide novel means of extracting mechanistic insights into function of material and molecules at the nanoscale. However, one of the big limitations is the vast amount of data required for analyzing and extracting the desired information, which is time-consuming and user dependent. Here, we introduce Deep-LASI, a software suite for the manual and automatic analysis of single-molecule traces, interactions, and the underlying kinetics.

Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is a severe and life-threatening cutaneous adverse reaction. Drug-induced AGEP is mainly related to antibiotics. More recently, AGEP following spider bites has been increasingly described.

Single-molecule experiments have changed the way we explore the physical world, yet data analysis remains time-consuming and prone to human bias. Here, we introduce Deep-LASI (Deep-Learning Assisted Single-molecule Imaging analysis), a software suite powered by deep neural networks to rapidly analyze single-, two- and three-color single-molecule data, especially from single-molecule Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (smFRET) experiments. Deep-LASI automatically sorts recorded traces, determines FRET correction factors and classifies the state transitions of dynamic traces all in ~20-100 ms per trajectory.

Statins are a widely used class of drug, usually safe and well-tolerated. Their cutaneous side effects are exceedingly rare. We describe a case of photoexposed purpuric eruption mediated by rosuvastatin.

The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) outbreak in December 2019, causing millions of deaths all over the world, and the lack of specific treatment for severe forms of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have led to the development of vaccines in record time, increasing the risk of vaccine safety issues. Recently, several cases of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) have been reported following COVID-19 vaccination. TTP is a rare disease characterized by thrombocytopenia, microangiopathic hemolytic anemia and ischemic end-organ lesions.
