Chitosan (CH)-based composite films have attracted increasing attention as promising green food packaging materials due to their biodegradability and ease of fabrication. In this study, a series of composite films made of chitosan nanoparticles (NCH) as a matrix and alkali lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) as functional filler were prepared.

Targeted electrical stimulation to specific thalamic regions offers a therapeutic approach for patients with refractory focal and generalized epilepsy who are not candidates for resective surgery. However, clinical outcome varies significantly, in particular for focal epilepsy, influenced by several factors, notably the precise anatomical and functional alignment between cortical regions generating epileptic discharges and the targeted thalamic stimulation sites. Here we hypothesized that targeting thalamic nuclei with precise anatomical and functional connections to epileptic cortical areas (an approach that we refer to as hodological matching) could enhance neuromodulatory effects on focal epileptic discharges.

The sums of position- and momentum-space mutual information measures are used to examine the pairwise and higher-order statistical correlation in the ground states of N-particle coupled oscillators. Analytical expressions for these measures are shown to be related to the logarithmic interaction energies of these states, plus those of mirror states where the intensities of the one- and two-body potentials are interchanged, and the nature of the attractive or repulsive interaction is opposite to that in the original state. The measures separate the contributions from the interactions and those from the effective interactions due to marginalization into different terms.

Mitigation strategy of saline stress in using natural and synthetic brassinosteroids as biostimulants.

In this work, we evaluated the effect of a natural (EP24) and a synthetic (BB16) brassinosteroid on strawberry (Fragaria vesca ) plants exposed to saline stress. Treated plants showed higher shoot dry weight and root growth compared to untreated control plants.

A common polymorphism in the Intelectin-1 gene influences mucus plugging in severe asthma.

By incompletely understood mechanisms, type 2 (T2) inflammation present in the airways of severe asthmatics drives the formation of pathologic mucus which leads to airway mucus plugging. Here we investigate the molecular role and clinical significance of intelectin-1 (ITLN-1) in the development of pathologic airway mucus in asthma. Through analyses of human airway epithelial cells we find that ITLN1 gene expression is highly induced by interleukin-13 (IL-13) in a subset of metaplastic MUC5AC mucus secretory cells, and that ITLN-1 protein is a secreted component of IL-13-induced mucus.

However, it remains uncertain whether these children are predisposed to both conditions or if early-life RIs induce alterations in airway function, immune responses, or other human biology that contribute to the development of asthma. Post-colonoscopy colorectal cancer (PCCRC) is a tumor that appears after a normal colonoscopy before the established time for the endoscopic follow up. Its origin reflects the quality of the colonoscopy and the different tumoral biologics between the CRC and the CRCPC. Our aim is to describe the characteristics of the PCCRC in our region, to identify risk factors, to discriminate the potential causes according to the World Endoscopý Organization (WEO) and to determine its impact in the patient's survival.
