The clinical use of dexamethasone (DXM) is associated with the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, the mechanisms by which DXM-induced NAFLD is still incompletely known. Therefore, the current study aims to test the hypothesis that DXM-induced NAFLD is mediated by dysregulation of key genes involved in lipid metabolism and liraglutide (LG) can ameliorate these effects.

This study addresses the urgent need for culturally sensitive cognitive assessments in Egypt by validating an adapted version of Harmonized Cognitive Assessment Protocol (HCAP) to the Egyptian context. This version is to be used as a part of the Egyptian Aging Survey (AL-SEHA). We enrolled 300 participants aged 55 + from diverse backgrounds and meticulously adapted the HCAP for Egypt's linguistic and cultural context.

Despite the central role of dopaminergic neurons in human-enriched disorders, molecular specializations associated with human-specific features and vulnerabilities of the dopaminergic system remain unexplored. Here, we establish a phylogeny-in-a-dish approach to examine gene regulatory evolution by differentiating pools of human, chimpanzee, orangutan, and macaque pluripotent stem cells into ventral midbrain organoids capable of forming long-range projections, spontaneous activity, and dopamine release.
