A 21-year-old male presented with a 2-week history of nausea and non-bloody, non-bilious vomiting, accompanied by diffuse chronic myalgia. The patient endorsed headaches, dizziness, and diplopia that had started one day prior to admission. The patient had consumed a meat-only diet for the prior year.

AA amyloidosis, previously known as secondary amyloidosis, has been associated with multiple chronic inflammatory conditions, including various autoimmune diseases and rarely chronic infection. Hereby, we present a case of AA amyloidosis secondary to chronic infection which initially presented with nausea and hematemesis. Endoscopic biopsies revealed diffuse AA amyloid deposition in the stomach, but not the esophagus.

Patients suffering from quadriceps muscle weakness secondary to osteoarthritis or after surgeries, such as total knee arthroplasty, appear to benefit from the use of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), which can improve muscle strength and function, range of motion, exercise capacity, and quality of life. Several modalities exist that deliver this therapy. However, with the ever-increasing demand to improve clinical efficiency and costs, digitalize healthcare, optimize data collection, improve care coordination, and increase patient compliance and engagement, newer devices incorporating technologies that facilitate these demands are emerging.
