- Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is a common skin condition affecting many people, with around 90% of cases being idiopathic, and nearly half thought to involve autoimmune mechanisms.
- The study examined the presence of specific T regulatory cells (CD4+CD25highFOXP3+) in CSU patients and their link to autologous serum skin tests (ASST).
- Results showed that CSU patients had lower levels of these T regulatory cells compared to healthy individuals, supporting the idea that CSU is related to immune system issues and suggesting potential avenues for new treatments.
