The livestock industry uses ofloxacin, an antibiotic, to prevent several animal diseases; however, the overdose of ofloxacin used in animal farming treatments may appear in food products and cause some adverse human health effects. Hence, there is an immediate need to develop a method suitable for on site large-scale detection of ofloxacin residues in animal-derived foods. This study aimed to prepare a monoclonal antibody with high sensitivity and affinity for ofloxacin by re-synthesizing the ofloxacin hapten and synthesizing the corresponding complete antigen.

This study assessed whether abnormalities in corneal endothelial cell (CEC) morphology are related to corneal nerve morphology, brain volumetry, cerebral ischemia, and cognitive impairment in MCI and dementia.
Methods: Participants with no cognitive impairment (NCI), MCI, and dementia underwent CCM to quantify corneal endothelial cell density (CECD) and area (CECA), corneal nerve fiber morphology, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain volumetry, and severity of brain ischemia.
Aim: Obesity is a major risk factor for diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) in type 2 diabetes (T2D). This study investigated the effect of glucose lowering medication associated with weight change on DPN.
Methods: Participants with T2D were grouped based on whether their glucose lowering medications were associated with weight gain (WG) or weight loss (WL).
Objectives: To evaluate and compare the ion-releasing capability of three different restorative systems at the restoration/tooth interface elemental analysis using energy-dispersive X-ray technique. Additionally, micromorphological patterns of the restoration/tooth interfaces was investigated.
Materials And Methods: Eighteen freshly extracted sound human premolars were collected for the study.
Background: The pre-polymerization temperature of resin composite restorative materials could influence their adaptation to cavity details. As a current debate is existing about the refrigeration of resin composite restorative materials, this study was designed to assess the effect of refrigeration of 3 types of resin composite restorative materials with different matrix systems on their marginal adaptation in Class II restorations.
Methods: Forty-two sound maxillary molars, each with two separated Class II cavities, were used in this study.
Lomefloxacin (LOM), an antibiotic crucial for preventing various animal diseases in animal husbandry, can pose serious health risks when found in excessive amounts in meat products. The development of highly specific and sensitive colloidal gold immunochromatographic test strips is essential for the accurate detection of this class of antibiotics. Our study utilized a monoclonal antibody (mAb) assay and immunochromatographic strips to detect lomefloxacin residues in meat products.

Positive control as a conventional cryoprotectant mixture of sucrose (4%) and sorbitol (4%), KC (3%) and XO/KC (3%) treatments were incorporated in silver carp surimi and myofibrillar proteins to analyze the water mobility and its influence on structural attributes.
Results: The temperature fluctuation significantly increased the structural alteration in samples with no treatments due to oxidative changes, protein denaturation and recrystallization.
Introduction: This study was undertaken to investigate whether sustained rather than a single measure of corneal nerve loss was associated with the onset of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) and the progression of neuropathic symptoms and deficits in individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D).
Methods: Participants underwent clinical, metabolic testing and assessment of neuropathic symptoms, vibration perception threshold (VPT), sudomotor function, and corneal confocal microscopy (CCM) at baseline, 1, 2, and 4-7 years. Sustained corneal nerve loss was defined as abnormal corneal nerve fiber density (CNFD, <24 fibers/mm), corneal nerve branch density (CNBD, <21 branches/mm), and corneal nerve fiber length (CNFL, <16 mm/mm) persisting for ≥50% of the study duration.
This study investigated the changes in phytochemical composition and inflammatory response of crude papaya (Carica papaya L.) seed oil (CPO) and its refined forms (degummed, PDG; deacidified, PDA; decolorized, PDC; deodorized, PDO). Oils were analyzed for their phytochemical composition, oil quality parameters, antioxidant activity, and their inflammatory response in LPS-stimulated THP-1 macrophages.

Chitosan is a natural polysaccharide that is abundant, biocompatible and exhibits effective antifungal activity against various pathogenic fungi. However, the potential intracellular targets of chitosan in pathogenic fungi and the way of activity of chitosan are far from well known. The present work demonstrated that chitosan could inhibit Penicillium expansum, the principal causal agent of postharvest blue mold decay on apple fruits, by binding to DNA and triggering apoptosis.
