[Health and safety of worker (commentary to the draft ISo 45001)].

The standard ISO 45001 and poor translation of its title in Russian are discussed. The mortality rates from occupational diseases and injuries are compared as well as risk of sudden cardio-vascular death. The priority of occupational health as compared to safety is proven and some ways of amelioration of the system are suggested.

[Developing the methodology of examining the lower limb veins in cosmonauts for the space medicine practice].

The article centres on development of a methodology for evaluating the function of lower limb veins of cosmonauts in microgravity. The whys and wherefores of the choice of occlusive plethysmography equipment and procedure are explained. Much place is given to arguments for the requisite body and limb positioning during venous plethysmography pre launch and on return from space flight.

[Minimal invasive treatment of bleeding of esophagus and stomach varices in patients with portal hypertension].

The results of examination and treatment of 57 patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension with bleeding from the varices of the esophagus and stomach, admitted in the Clinical Hospital No 29 named after N.E. Bauman in Moscow.

[Ambulatory treatment varicosity of the lower limbs].

Experience of ambulatory treatment of 260 patients with varicosity of the lower limbs (chiefly with trombovar) is summarized. An original technique of sclerotherapy is proposed. A differential approach to management of horizontal reflux is developed.

[The use of attachments for the fixation of removable dentures].

A new design of OT-cap system attachment for removable denture fixation is offered improving fixation reliability, functional and esthetic characteristics of dentures. Establishment of attachments when the jaws are maximally tightly compressed helps evenly distribute the masticatory loading of the underlying tissues and abutment teeth individually for each patient.
