Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD) are two rare autoimmune inflammatory demyelinating diseases involving the central nervous system, which are often seen with combined involvement of the optic nerve and spinal cord. MOGAD can be confused with multiple sclerosis or NMOSD, due to its clinical presentation that may be similar and its characteristic to progress with habitual attacks. Although the clinical course of the above-mentioned three diseases is similar, their diagnosis and management are different.

Fabrication of Thymol-loaded Isabgol/Konjac Glucomannan-based Microporous Scaffolds with Enriched Antioxidant and Antibacterial Properties for Skin Tissue Engineering Applications.

An antioxidant, antibacterial, and biocompatible biomaterial is essential to repair skin wounds effectively. Here, we have employed two natural biopolymers, isabgol (ISAB) and konjac glucomannan (KGM), to prepare microporous scaffolds by freezing and lyophilization. The scaffolds are loaded with thymol (THY) to impart potent antioxidant and antibacterial activities.

Frequency of Mutacin Gene Types in Streptococcus mutans Isolated From Oral Potentially Malignant Disorder (OPMD) Patients.

Objectives Mutacins are potent virulent factors attributing to the virulence in leading to oro-dental diseases, and oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) are considered a premalignant condition of the oro-mucosal layers in the oral cavity. The purpose of this study was to phenotypically characterize from the clinical samples of patients with OPMD and to assess the frequency of mutacin genes in comparison with healthy individuals. Methods Saliva samples (n=60) were collected from three different groups and the samples were incubated at 37°C for 48 hours in Mutans-Sanguis agar.

Variations of the left renal vein can be in the form of circumaortic vein or renal collar, retro-aortic vein, additional renal vein, or multiple primary tributaries. We report a unique complex venous pattern of concomitant circumaortic and retro-aortic left renal veins associated with a fenestrated left renal artery. Two renal veins, anterior and posterior to the renal artery, originated from the renal hilum.

Background: Anterior tarsal tunnel (ATT) syndrome is caused by the compression of the deep fibular nerve (DFN) within the ATT beneath the inferior extensor retinaculum, bounded by the tendons of the extensor hallucis longus (EHL) and extensor digitorum longus (EDL). Compression may result from direct trauma, repetitive mechanical irritation, and thrombosis of the dorsalis pedis artery. Injury to the contents of ATT could occur during ankle arthroscopy.

Accessory Head of Sternocleidomastoid Muscle in Indian Cadavers: A Report of Three Cases.

During dissection sessions for undergraduate students, the unilateral accessory clavicular head of the sternocleidomastoid muscle was observed in three cadavers. These accessory heads extended from the middle third of the clavicle and joined the sternocleidomastoid muscle in the middle third. The variations in the sternocleidomastoid muscle may be attributed to abnormal mesodermal splitting or fusion failure during the development of the post-sixth branchial arch.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), is the most common liver disorder worldwide, with an estimated global prevalence of more than 31%. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), formerly known as non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), is a progressive form of MASLD characterized by hepatic steatosis, inflammation, and fibrosis. This review aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the extrahepatic manifestations of MASH, focusing on chronic diseases related to the cardiovascular, muscular, and renal systems.

Results: We observed a global decrease in protein translation during lipotoxicity in human primary hepatocytes, mouse hepatic AML12 cells, and livers from a dietary mouse model of MASH.

The use of nanomaterials in biofuel production from lignocellulosic biomass offers a promising approach to simultaneously address environmental sustainability and economic viability. This review provides an overview of the environmental and economic implications of integrating nanotechnology into biofuel production from low-cost lignocellulosic biomass. In this review, we highlight the potential benefits and challenges of nano-based biofuel production.

Anatomical variations in the course of spinal accessory nerve in the neck triangles: A descriptive study.

Background: Spinal Accessory Nerve (SAN), which innervates the sternocleidomastoid (SCM) and trapezius muscles, is closely related to the internal jugular vein (IJV) in the anterior triangle of the neck and passes superficially in the posterior triangle. Injury to SAN is a major complication of level II neck dissection, leading to shoulder syndrome. The present study aims to assess the course and its relation to the SCM muscle and IJV in the Tamil ethnolinguistic groups in South India.

Solar (PV), Wind Energy (WE), and Fuel cell (FC) are the primary power sources of the system, and a battery storage system (BES) is used as a backup.

Background: Night eating syndrome (NES) is a unique eating disorder characterised by evening hyperphagia and nocturnal ingestions which cause significant distress and/or impairment in functioning. Despite the growing literature, NES remains poorly understood and under diagnosed. As such, this study aims to compare the prevalence of physical health conditions in participants with NES when compared to participants without an eating disorder (ED) and participants with other eating disorders (including anorexia nervosa (AN), binge eating disorder (BED) and bulimia nervosa (BN)) in a general population Australian sample of adults.

This scoping review was conducted according to PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for Scoping Reviews) guidelines. The search was conducted through the use of PubMed, Medline (OVID) and SCOPUS, to identify relevant articles published within the last 10 years.

A systematic investigation of the relationship between properties of bulk foam and foam in porous media.

Non-covalent interaction, adsorption characteristics and solvent effect of procainamide anti-arrhythmias drug on silver and gold loaded silica surfaces: SERS spectroscopy, density functional theory and molecular docking investigations.

First-principle calculations were systematically carried out to explore the structural and electronic properties of the non-covalent interaction of procainamide (PA) anti-arrhythmias drug molecules on silver-loaded and gold-loaded silica nanostructures. Computed adsorption energies presented a higher affinity of PA towards the Ag-SiO as compared with Au-SiO surfaces. The non-covalent interaction analysis revealed a weak van der Waals type of forces and hydrogen bonding, associated with a noticeable repulsive steric interaction.

The use of high-speed video-endoscopy (HSV) in the study of phonatory processes linked to speech needs the precise identification of vocal fold boundaries at the time of vibration. The HSV is a unique laryngeal imaging technology that captures intracycle vocal fold vibrations at a higher frame rate without the need for auditory inputs. The HSV is also effective in identifying the vibrational characteristics of the vocal folds with an increased temporal resolution during retained phonation and flowing speech.
