Eight species of the superfamily Pentatomoidea are recorded from Greece for the first time: Küster 1852, (Fabricius 1775), (Scopoli 1763), (Herrich-Schaeffer 1830), (Gallen 1789), (Linnaeus 1758), (Fabricius 1775) and (Jakovlev 1871). A complete updated species checklist with distributional data notes for all the new species for Greece are provided.

The most plausible scenario of chromosomal rearrangements accompanying phylogenetic differentiation in Philaenus is advanced. It is postulated that the ancestral karyotype of Philaenus was 2n = 24 + X0.
