Thermaerobacter nagasakiensis sp. nov., a novel aerobic and extremely thermophilic marine bacterium.

A novel, extremely thermophilic bacterium was isolated from a shallow marine hydrothermal vent at depth of 22 m in Tachibana Bay, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. Cells were gram-negative, non-spore-forming, motile rods. Growth was observed between 52 and 78 degrees C (optimum 70 degrees C), pH 5 and 8 (optimum pH 7) and 0-4.
