The purpose of this article is to investigate trends and variations of fundamentalism in the Orthodox Church of Greece. In order to achieve this, the article analyses discourses and practices of the Orthodox Church of Greece since the restoration of democracy in 1974. The main argument is that the church, as an institution, produces public discourses and adopts practices with regard to modernity, more specifically on social, political, moral and scientific issues, using both modernity and tradition in order to strengthen its place in Greek society.

In a double-blind, non-inferiority, randomized controlled trial, a total of 163 healthy formula-fed infants, 55-80 days old, were recruited and randomly allocated to either the PHF (test) or the IPF (control) group. They were followed up for three months during which they were evaluated monthly on growth and development.

Background: According to the community-based EuroPrevall surveys, prevalence of self-reported food allergy (FA) in adults across Europe ranges from 2% to 37% for any food and 1% to 19% for 24 selected foods.
Objective: To determine the prevalence of probable FA (symptoms plus specific IgE-sensitization) and challenge-confirmed FA in European adults, along with symptoms and causative foods.
Methods: In phase I of the EuroPrevall project, a screening questionnaire was sent to a random sample of the general adult population in 8 European centers.
The terminology 'Morton's neuroma' may represent a simplification of the clinical condition as the problem may not be a benign tumour of the nerve, but neuropathic foot pain associated with the interdigital nerve.Foot and ankle pathomechanics leading to metatarsalgia, clinical examination and differential diagnosis of the condition and imaging of the condition, for differential diagnosis, are discussed.Nonoperative management is recommended initially.

We prospectively assessed safety and efficacy outcomes for synthetic cartilage implant hemiarthroplasty at a minimum of 5 years.
Methods:: Of 135 eligible patients from the original trial, 112 (83.
Cephalopods are highly appreciated with increasing demand seafood, but are also very perishable and deteriorate fast mainly due to microbiological spoilage. For this reason exploration of bacterial communities through 16S Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) analysis was performed. Furthermore, sensory evaluation, classical microbiological analysis, Total Volatile Base-Nitrogen/TVB-N and Trimethylamine-Nitrogen/TMA-N determination were also carried out.

However, there are doubts about whether correction of established severe deformity can be achieved using the arthroscopic approach.
Methods: A retrospective review of medical records and radiographs at our hospital identified consecutive tibio-talar ankle fusions between April 2009 and March 2014 with minimum 1 year follow up.
Background: First metatarsophalangeal joint (MTPJ1) hemiarthroplasty using a novel synthetic cartilage implant was as effective and safe as MTPJ1 arthrodesis in a randomized clinical trial. We retrospectively evaluated operative time and recovery period for implant hemiarthroplasty (n=152) and MTPJ1 arthrodesis (n=50).
Methods: Perioperative data were assessed for operative and anaesthesia times.
The posterior malleolus component of a fracture of the ankle is important, yet often overlooked. Pre-operative CT scans to identify and classify the pattern of the fracture are not used enough. Posterior malleolus fractures are not difficult to fix.

Methods: A prospective, randomized study examining outcomes of arthrodesis compared to synthetic cartilage implant was performed.
Background: We evaluated data from a clinical trial of first metatarsophalangeal joint (MTPJ1) implant hemiarthroplasty and arthrodesis to determine the association between patient factors and clinical outcomes.
Methods: Patients ≥18 years with hallux rigidus grade 2, 3, or 4 were treated with synthetic cartilage implant MTPJ1 hemiarthroplasty or arthrodesis. Pain visual analog scale (VAS), Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM) sports and activities of daily living (ADL) scores, and Short Form-36 Physical Function (SF-36 PF) subscore were obtained preoperatively, and at 2, 6, 12, 24, 52, and 104 weeks postoperatively.
Stable fractures of the ankle can be safely treated non-operatively. It is also gradually being recognised that the integrity of the 'medial column' is essential for the stability of the fracture. It is generally thought that bi- and tri-malleolar fractures are unstable, as are pronation external rotation injuries resulting in an isolated high fibular fracture (Weber type-C), where the deltoid ligament is damaged or the medial malleolus fractured.

Low complexity and wireless enabled characteristics can offer the required flexibility for sensor deployment in adaptable sensing networks for continuous monitoring and management of industrial assets. Here are presented the design, development and operation of a class of low cost photonic sensors for monitoring the ageing process and the operational characteristics of coolant fluids used in an industrial heavy machinery infrastructure.

Treating ankle syndesmosis injuries is an example where practice varies widely and there are many questions that remain unsatisfactorily answered. When addressing the type of syndesmosis stabilization that is required it is essential to ascertain the extent of instability.

The aim of this analysis was to estimate the prevalence of NSAID-induced respiratory symptoms in population across Europe and to assess its association with upper and lower respiratory tract disorders.
Methods: The GA LEN survey was conducted in 22 centers in 15 European countries.
Background: Although a variety of great toe implants have been tried in an attempt to maintain toe motion, the majority have failed with loosening, malalignment/dislocation, implant fragmentation and bone loss. In these cases, salvage to arthrodesis is more complicated and results in shortening of the ray or requires structural bone graft to reestablish length. This prospective study compared the efficacy and safety of this small (8/10 mm) hydrogel implant to the gold standard of a great toe arthrodesis for advanced-stage hallux rigidus.

Background: So far many algorithms have been proposed towards the detection of significant genes in microarray analysis problems. Several of those approaches are freely available as R-packages though their engagement in gene expression analysis by non-bioinformaticians is usually a frustrating task. Besides, only some of those packages offer a complete suite of tools starting from initial data import and ending to analysis report.

Examination under anaesthesia (EUA), gravity-stress (GS) and weight-bearing (WB) radiographs can aid surgical decision-making. We evaluated the effect of three methods of fracture stability assessment.

This is due to the secondary effect of soft tissue contractures (lateral ligaments, peroneal tendons, calf muscles) "pulling" the foot into more valgus. Physiotherapy and insoles may help some patients.
