Stricture of the celiac artery caused by the median arcuate ligament induces abdominal ischemic symptoms and aneurysm near the pancreatic head. However, the need to treat asymptomatic patients is unclear. We safely performed surgical decompression of a stricture of the celiac artery by MAL in an asymptomatic patient at the same time as gastrectomy for gastric cancer.

This study was conducted to confirm the efficacy and toxicity of weekly PCF.
Methods: Eligibility criteria were as follows: pathological confirmation; measurable lesion(s); and no history of treatment with taxanes, platinum-based compounds, or intravenous 5-fluorouracil (1 regimen of pre-treatment with oral 5-fluorouracil agents was allowed).

A 25-year-old-woman with four years history of pancolonic ulcerative colitis (UC) underwent laparoscopy-assisted restorative proctocolectomy. She developed postoperatively abdominal pain, high fever, bloody diarrhea. Computed tomography showed thickening of duodenal and small intestinal wall, and endoscopic examination revealed diffuse mucosal edema, redness, erosion and ulceration involving duodenum, small intestine and ileal pouch that was similar in appearance to UC.

A 61-year-old man was admitted to our hospital because of a left lung cancer. The chest x-ray film showed an irregular mass in the left upper lung field and the ill-defined left upper mediastinal border. A large portion of the aorta seen in the CT section above the aortic arch was understood to be aortic elongation.

The microcapsules consisted of in vitro dissolvable polymolecular poly L-lactic acid and 5-fluorouracil (5Fu). The 5Fu-mc was about 200 microns in diameter and had a 5Fu content of about 40% (weight/weight).

The time needed for collection of the specimen from the final administration of 5'-DFUR was 3.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFA SU-polysaccharide skin test (SU-PS test) has been employed and studied as a parameter for monitoring the immunological status of OK-432 treated patients who had undergone a curative gastrectomy for a gastric cancer in stages II and III. The median diameter of the erythema (SU-PS value) was found to have no relation to the number of lymphocytes and the serum protein level and was depressed by combined chemotherapy. The SU-PS value was significantly higher in patients not given a splenectomy than in patients who had undergone a patients splenectomy.

An attempt was made to develop the new anticancer drug inducing enhanced tumor response to arterial chemoembolization therapy. 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) was microencapsulated with poly L-lactic acid by the organic phase separation technique. This granular preparation containing 5-FU (FU-PLA-mc) was about 200 micron in diameter and was about 40% in 5-FU content.

Preoperative chemotherapy with 5-FU was carried out on patients with gastric and colorectal cancer. 5-FU was given at a dose of 500 mg daily with a drip infusion for 7 days (Group A), with a one-shot intravenous infusion daily (Group B) and orally for 7 days (Group C). Histological effects were evaluated, using the criteria proposed by Ohboshi.

Polymer polyglycolic acid is biocompatible in the body. A needle-shaped long-acting anti-cancer preparation (F-PGA needle) was prepared by compounding polyglycolic acid and the anti-cancer drug 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU). The release of 5-FU from the needle was maintained for about 10 days, and the needle disappeared after one year.
