A solution-gated indium-tin-oxide (ITO)-based field effect transistor (FET) without interfaces among the source, channel, and drain electrodes, which is called the one-piece ITO-FET, can be simply fabricated from a single sheet of ITO by etching the channel region. The direct contact of the ITO channel surface with a sample solution contributes to a steep subthreshold slope and a high on/off ratio. In this study, we have examined the effects of oxygen vacancies and hydroxy groups at the ITO channel surface on the electrical characteristics of the one-piece ITO-FET.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is on the rise, and over 50% of patients die from cardiac causes. Patients develop heart failure due to unelucidated reno-cardiac interactions, termed type 4 cardiorenal syndrome (CRS4). The aim of this study is to establish and characterize a reliable model of CRS4 in swine with marked cardiac diastolic dysfunction.

A conductive polymer, which is based on polyaniline (PANI), was strongly coated on a glassy carbon electrode as a poly -aminophenylboronic acid (PANI-PBA) membrane by drop-casting, which is a convenient method, owing to adhesive phytic acid (PA) molecules with negative charges included as a dopant. This polymer membrane had a functional structure with PBA in the PANI main chain, which expectedly induced electrical charges upon diol binding to lactate, owing to the formation of deprotonated boronate esters with negative charges.

We have shown that deficiency of kynurenine 3-monooxygenase (KMO) induces depression-like behaviour via kynurenic acid (KYNA; α7nACh antagonist).

Departing from traditional models that attribute the increase in pH primarily to H expulsion via Ca-ATPase, we emphasize the significant role of polyamines. These ubiquitous biogenic amines conveyed by calicoblastic cells through polyamine transporters demonstrate a remarkable affinity for CO.

Using a Yorkshire swine ischemic heart failure model, we demonstrate significant improvement in gene uptake with temporary coronary occlusions assisted by mechanical circulatory support. We first show that mechanical support during coronary artery occlusions prevents hemodynamic deterioration (n = 5 female).

A 7-year-old girl with hypertension was referred to our hospital with left hydronephrosis caused by ureteropelvic junction obstruction of the lower moiety in a partial duplex system. Because the lower moiety was almost nonfunctional, a laparoscopic heminephrectomy was performed.

Here, we report teamed Pd and Mo single-atom sites that exhibit high activity and selectivity for anisole hydrodeoxygenation to benzene at low temperatures, 100-150 °C, where a Pd metal nanoparticle catalyst or a MoO nanoparticle catalyst is individually inactive. The catalysts built from Pd or Mo single-atom sites alone are much less effective, although the catalyst with Pd sites shows some activity but low selectivity.

Background: Creatine kinase (CK) levels decrease with cancer progression and muscle wasting, but its association with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate CK as a prognostic biomarker and surrogate marker for muscle mass in patients with PDAC.
Methods: A retrospective analysis of 476 patients with PDAC was conducted.
Background: This study aims to assess the safety of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) with percutaneous ventricular assist device (PVAD) in patients with acute myocardial infarction complicated by cardiogenic shock (AMI-CS).
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 1198 patients with AMI-CS from the J-PVAD registry, who underwent PVAD support using Impella® (Abiomed Inc., Danvers, MA) and subsequent revascularization between February 2020 and December 2021.
Background: CD200, a negative regulator of T cells as well as a marker for cancer stem cells, represents a significant prognostic factor and potential therapeutic target in certain cancers. However, its clinical significance remains unknown in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).
Methods: CD200 was assessed in 220 resected PDAC patients who underwent surgery with or without neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT).
Three-dimensional (3D) chromosome structures are closely related to various chromosomal functions, and deep analysis of the structures is crucial for the elucidation of the functions. In recent years, chromosome conformation capture (3C) techniques combined with next-generation sequencing analysis have been developed to comprehensively reveal 3D chromosome structures. Micro-C is one such method that can detect the structures at nucleosome resolution.

The real-time electrical analysis of nano-MIP-HSA binding showed a high affinity and specificity of nano-MIPs for HSA. Moreover, the binding behaviour was continuously visualised using a solution-gated complementary metal-oxide semiconductor array image biosensor.

However, the relationship between CA9 expression and preoperative treatment has not been clarified. We evaluated the clinical impact of CA9 expression on the efficacy of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NACRT) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).

However, few studies have verified this mechanism based on clinical data. This study investigated the complementary effects of hyperglycemia and HBP on pancreatic cancer prognosis using detailed clinical data.

However, patency following vein grafting or AVF formation is suboptimal for various reasons, including thrombosis, neointimal hyperplasia, and adverse remodelling. Recently, endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) was found to contribute to neointimal hyperplasia in mouse vein grafts.

The input functions of these methods were determined using the administered dose, which was obtained by analyzing the time activity curve of the pulmonary artery (PA) for SIMS and the ascending aorta (AAo) for the IBUR methods for dynamic chest images. If the PA and AAo regions of interest (ROIs) can be determined using deep convolutional neural networks (DCNN) for segmentation, the accuracy of these ROI-setting methods can be improved through simple analytical operations to ensure repeatability and reproducibility.

The Department of Nephro-urology at Nagoya City University Hospital used fosfomycin as a substitute for perioperative prophylaxis. This retrospective preliminary study evaluated the efficacy of fosfomycin and cefotiam for preventing infections following ureterorenoscopy.

Suturing training is the common method of practicing laparoscopic surgery; however, the cost of needles and threads for long-term practice remains a problem. In this study, we incorporated the original Japanese training for laparoscopic surgery by making an origami paper crane (laparoscopic origami training (LOT)) and evaluated its effect on the clinical results as a long-term practice.

The limitation of CO diffusion to chloroplasts within the lamina is significant in C photosynthesis, resulting in a shortage of CO for Rubisco. Although Rubisco CO/O specificity (S) should be adaptively adjusted in response to the interspecific variation in CO concentrations [CO] associated with Rubisco, S variations across species along the LES remain unknown.
