Cancer survivors have a higher risk of new primary cancer, in the same or in another organ, than the general population. We report a 78-year-old women who has metachronous quadruple adenocarcinoma, includes bilateral breast cancer, ovarian cancer and retroperitoneal neuroendocrine carcinoma. The development of second cancer in cancer survivors can be expected but third or higher order malignancies are rare.

It is an autosomal recessive genodermatosis associated with susceptibility to infection by specific human papillomavirus genotypes and a high risk of skin cancer. In this report we describe three cases of EV after a consanguineous marriage in a family with no history of EV.

While nearly every malignancy has been described to metastasize to the breast; melanoma, lymphoma and leukemia tend to be the most common. Among these primary tumors, melanoma metastasis represents a diagnostic pitfall for both the clinicians and histopathologists.

It was a multicentric retrospective study carried out from September 2003 to October 2005. We collected data from the medical files of the HIV infected patients using antiretroviral therapy Patients were included in the study if using Triomune and were followed up regularly in an accredited centre of management of HIV infected patients for at least one month.

This retrospective study was carried out in leprosy patients managed at the National Center of Dermatology in Lomé between January 1990 and December 2005. During the study period, 383 cases of leprosy were recorded including 366 new cases.

Thrombotic attacks are life threatening and are responsible for nearly 50% of PNH-related deaths. Compared with thrombotic events, bleeding related to thrombocytopenia in PNH is quite rare.

In this report, we describe a 52-year-old man with the simultaneous diagnosis of PBC and IgG-kappa multiple myeloma (MM). Serum cholestatic enzyme (alkaline phosphatase and gamma-glutamyltransferase) levels decreased after three courses of vincristine, adriamycin and dexamethasone treatment followed by six courses of melphalan and methylprednisolone, given for MM.

Background: Oral and Maxillofacial operations can be extremely frightening treatment situations. General data on this phenomenon should be acquired through a multi-centre trial.
Method: A 10-page questionnaire was developed which was answered by 600 oral and maxillofacial patients before individual treatment.
Whole-body scintigraphy with Technetium-99m 2-methoxy-isobutyl-isonitrile ((99m)Tc-MIBI) has been proposed as a useful method for demonstrating the areas of active bone marrow infiltration in multiple myeloma (MM). In this study, we compared the (99m)Tc-MIBI scan with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), skeletal X-ray survey, and biochemical markers of disease activity in MM to determine its potential in predicting the extension of the disease. Twenty-four myeloma patients had undergone to the (99m)Tc-MIBI scan.

An elliptic geometry model, which defines a more general frame, ensures more accurate results in reconstruction and assessment of inhomogeneities inside. This study provides a link between the analytical solutions defined in circular and elliptical geometries on the basis of the computation of conformal mapping.

Two patients with Takayasu arteritis are reported who presented with fever of unknown origin. Takayasu arteritis was diagnosed at the prepulseless period after stenotic lesions of the aorta, and its branches were seen with imaging methods. In the first month of steroid treatment, hypertension developed in both patients that was related to fibrosis in stenotic lesions in renal arteries.

Soluble CD23 (sCD23) was proposed as a marker of disease activity and as an important prognostic parameter in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL). In this study, prognostic significance of sCD23 in B-CLL was examined according to its temporal relationship with the known clinical parameters of the disease, CD38 and ZAP-70. Serum sCD23 levels of 36 B-CLL patients, followed up in our clinic between 1999 and 2005, and 15 healthy subjects were measured with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
