Fluorite mineral holds significant importance because of its optoelectronic properties and wide range of applications. Here, we report the successful exfoliation of bulk fluorite ore (calcium fluoride, CaF) crystals into atomically thin two-dimensional fluoritene (2D CaF) using a highly scalable liquid-phase exfoliation method. The microscopic and spectroscopy characterizations show the formation of (111) plane-oriented 2D CaF sheets with exfoliation-induced material strain due to bond breaking, leading to the changes in lattice parameter.

This study aims to assess the improvement in quality of life and symptoms in paediatric obstructive sleep apnoea patients before and after adenotonsillectomy. From all paediatric patients who presented to our OPD with complaints of mouth breathing and snoring, a subset of patients fulfilling our inclusion criteria were selected and evaluated with PSQSRBD scale, quality of life (QoL) inventory and PSG level-III. Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) has emerged as a strong candidate for two-dimensional (2D) material owing to its exciting optoelectrical properties combined with mechanical robustness, thermal stability, and chemical inertness. Super-thin h-BN layers have gained significant attention from the scientific community for many applications, including nanoelectronics, photonics, biomedical, anti-corrosion, and catalysis, among others. This review provides a systematic elaboration of the structural, electrical, mechanical, optical, and thermal properties of h-BN followed by a comprehensive account of state-of-the-art synthesis strategies for 2D h-BN, including chemical exfoliation, chemical, and physical vapor deposition, and other methods that have been successfully developed in recent years.

We reassess progress in the field of biomolecular modeling and simulation, following up on our perspective published in 2011. By reviewing metrics for the field's productivity and providing examples of success, we underscore the productive phase of the field, whose short-term expectations were overestimated and long-term effects underestimated. Such successes include prediction of structures and mechanisms; generation of new insights into biomolecular activity; and thriving collaborations between modeling and experimentation, including experiments driven by modeling.

Since their reintroduction into the clinic in the 1980s, the polymyxin antibiotics colistin-administered intravenously as an inactive prodrug, colistin methanesulfonate (CMS)-and polymyxin B have assumed an important role as salvage therapy for otherwise untreatable gram-negative infections. However, the emerging pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic data on CMS/colistin and polymyxin B indicate that polymyxin monotherapy is unlikely to generate plasma concentrations that are reliably efficacious. Additionally, regrowth and the emergence of resistance with monotherapy are commonly reported even when concentrations exceed those achieved clinically.
