Purpose: To compare long-term outcomes of high-grade, primary soft-tissue-sarcoma (STS), using Ifosfamide-Doxorubicin vs local therapy alone, in histology-specific sarcomas.
Methods: Retrospective analysis was performed on 127 patients from 2005 to 2018, with high-grade STS of extremity or trunk, >5 cm, that were either Synovial-Cell, Dedifferentiated-Liposarcoma (DDL), Myxofibrosarcoma, Round-Cell-Liposarcoma (RCLS), Undifferentiated-Pleomorphic-Sarcoma (UPS), or Undifferentiated-Sarcoma-not-otherwise-specified (US-NOS), with central pathology review. Ifosfamide-Doxorubicin was generally given neoadjuvant over 5 cycles, followed by radiation and wide excision, with chemotherapy given in 38 patients, while 89 received local therapy alone.
Introduction: Peripheral nerve sheath tumors, known as perineuriomas, are typically found on the trunk and extremities. They are less commonly described in the gastrointestinal tract (GI), and extremely rarely are described in the stomach.
Case Presentation: We present a case of a 2-cm gastric perineurioma in a 42-year-old patient with nonspecific GI complaints of chronic dyspepsia and epigastric discomfort.
The recent development and market introduction of a new type of alkaline stable imidazole-based anion exchange membrane and related ionomers by Dioxide Materials is enabling the advancement of new and improved electrochemical processes which can operate at commercially viable operating voltages, current efficiencies, and current densities. These processes include the electrochemical conversion of CO to formic acid (HCOOH), CO to carbon monoxide (CO), and alkaline water electrolysis, generating hydrogen at high current densities at low voltages without the need for any precious metal electrocatalysts. The first process is the direct electrochemical generation of pure formic acid in a three-compartment cell configuration using the alkaline stable anion exchange membrane and a cation exchange membrane.

Although previously felt to be uncommon, kidneys can be involved in 25% to 30% of pSS patients. Fibrillary glomerulonephritis (FGN) is a rare primary glomerular disease that can occur in association with another autoimmune condition or malignancy.

In this work, two in situ and operando methods, that is, micro-Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD), have been combined to study the phase-transformation process in LiFePO4 at two distinct length scales, namely, particle-level scale (∼1 μm) and macroscopic scale (∼several cm). In situ Raman studies revealed a discrete mode of phase transformation at the particle level.

Methods: The descriptive study was conducted at the Ear, Nose and Throat Department and the Department of Head and Neck Surgery of Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad, and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Karachi, from April 2009 to October 2010. Fifty patients with strong suspicion of foreign body inhalation in whom rigid bronchoscopy was done were included in the study.
Context: Spindle cell lipoma (SCL) is a tumor with marked male predilection. We discovered one SCL that exhibited strong immunoreactivity for androgen receptors (ARs) in the spindle cells.
Objective: The hypothesis was that ARs in SCLs would not be rare and that all or nearly all SCLs would be AR positive, perhaps explaining its male predominance.
Inhibitors of angiogenesis, such as angiostatin, are increasingly used for targeting the tumor neovasculature and have had mixed success. Annexin II (ANX2), a 36KDa calcium and phospholipid binding protein, is a cell surface receptor for angiostatin. We hypothesized that, like normal vascular endothelium, vascular neoplasms would express ANX2, implying the potential usefulness of angiostatins in the therapy of this family of soft tissue tumors.
