Workers at municipal solid waste (MSW) facilities may be exposed to a range of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This study aimed to evaluate the potential systemic and respiratory effects, as well as to conduct cancer and non-cancer health risk assessments, associated with exposure to an important group of VOCs-Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes (BTEX)-among MSW workers. For this purpose, 48 air samples were collected from an MSW facility (36 samples from the landfill and 12 samples from the transfer station) and from a green space serving as the control area (n = 6), located in Hamedan, in the west of Iran, during the spring and summer of 2019.

High levels of bioaerosols may exist in the air of municipal solid waste (MSW) management facilities, constituting a significant occupational hazard for workers. In this study, we investigated the potential association between exposure to bioaerosols and inflammatory biomarkers among municipal solid waste workers (MSWWs) at both the landfill site and the municipal solid waste transfer station (MSWTS), in comparison to a control group without exposure. Air sampling was conducted at six points around the landfill, two points at the MSWTS, and one point in a public park (as a control area) during the spring and summer of 2019.

Background And Aim: Tropospheric ozone is a problem with multi aspects - hazard to human health, plant, and welfare and a key factor to climate change, air pollution and atmosphere chemistry, as well. Behavior of ozone and nitrogen oxides (NO, and NO2) concentration is highly complex and variable; therefore, their trends as short and long-term were significantly attended. Most of the studies were carried out on the behavior of pollutant concentrations in North America, Europe, and East Asia, but few studies have been conducted in west Asia.
