Article Synopsis
  • - The text discusses the development of a new composite photocatalyst, CdS@Ni(terpyC), made from a Ni(II)-terpyridine complex and CdS nanorods, aimed at enhancing photocatalytic solar fuel production and chemical synthesis.
  • - Experimental results show that this composite catalyst significantly improves the efficiency of hydrogen production from benzyl alcohol under visible light, outperforming both pure CdS and a mixture of CdS and Ni(terpyC).
  • - The study reveals that the Ni(terpyC) component helps in the rapid extraction of photogenerated electrons from CdS, which reduces carrier recombination and boosts photocatalytic performance, demonstrating the importance of surface engineering in catalyst design

Aberrant repair underlies the pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis while effective strategies to convert fibrosis to normal regeneration are scarce. Here, we found that thyroid hormone is decreased in multiple models of lung injury but is essential for lung regeneration. Moreover, thyroid hormone receptor α (TRα) promotes cell proliferation, while TRβ fuels cell maturation in lung regeneration.

Article Synopsis
  • * A novel core-shell nanorod structure (CdS@Cu-TCPP-Pt) was developed, which successfully separates photogenerated electron-hole pairs due to optimal energy level alignment.
  • * The presence of Pt not only enhanced hydrogen production but also allowed for rapid charge transfer, resulting in significantly improved photocatalytic performance compared to previous materials.

Apple replant disease (ARD), caused by pathogens, is a formidable threat to the renewal of apple varieties in China, necessitating the development of effective and sustainable control strategies. In this study, the bacterial strain BA-4 was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of healthy apple trees in a replanted orchard, demonstrating a broad-spectrum antifungal activity against five crucial apple fungal pathogens. Based on its morphology, physiological and biochemical traits, utilization of carbon sources, and Gram stain, strain BA-4 was tentatively identified as .

The hierarchical self-assembly of colloidal particles facilitates the bottom-up manufacturing of metamaterials with synergistically integrated functionalities. Here, we define a modular assembly methodology that enables multinary co-assembly of nanoparticles in one-dimensional confined space. A series of isotropic and anisotropic nanocrystals such as plasmonic, metallic, visible, and near-infrared responsive nanoparticles as well as transition-metal phosphides can be selectively assembled within the single-walled Co(OH) nanotubes to achieve various increasingly sophisticated assembly systems, including unary, binary, ternary, and quaternary superstructures.
