Rapid growth in bio-logging-the use of animal-borne electronic tags to document the movements, behaviour, physiology and environments of wildlife-offers opportunities to mitigate biodiversity threats and expand digital natural history archives. Here we present a vision to achieve such benefits by accounting for the heterogeneity inherent to bio-logging data and the concerns of those who collect and use them. First, we can enable data integration through standard vocabularies, transfer protocols and aggregation protocols, and drive their wide adoption.

A search for violation of the charge-parity (CP) symmetry in the D^{+}→K^{-}K^{+}π^{+} decay is presented, with proton-proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4  fb^{-1}, collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the LHCb detector. A novel model-independent technique is used to compare the D^{+} and D^{-} phase-space distributions, with instrumental asymmetries subtracted using the D_{s}^{+}→K^{-}K^{+}π^{+} decay as a control channel.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the deposition of amyloid-beta and hyperphosphorylated tau (P-tau) proteins in the brain. P-tau accumulates in neurons and is strongly associated with AD severity and affected brain regions. However, only a subset of neurons in AD exhibit tau pathology.

The rapid and early detection of infections and antibiotic resistance markers is a critical challenge in healthcare. Currently, most commercial diagnostic tools for analyzing antimicrobial resistance patterns of pathogens require elaborate culture-based testing. Our study aims to develop a rapid, accurate molecular detection system that can be used directly from culture, thereby introducing molecular testing in conjunction with culture tests to reduce turnaround time and guide therapy.

The present study demonstrates the synthesis of compact ZnO layers using CdS sensitized on ZnO as a photoanode with copper sulfide (CuS) and carbon as a counter electrode (CE). In this study, a compact ZnO layer was fabricated using the simple and low-cost successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method, and CuS CE films were synthesized using the chemical bath deposition method. Various characterizations, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), confirmed the formation of ZnO and CdS sensitizations on the ZnO .

Background: CT angiography (CTA) is used for preoperative localization in deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flaps, but is an additional costly study that involves contrast and radiation exposure. Many patients with head and neck cancer already undergo PET/CT. We investigated if PET/CT could be used to preoperatively localize perforators and if this corresponded with the intraoperative location.

Coffee has long been popular worldwide. The rise in lifestyle-related diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, dementia, and others has motivated coffee usage and illness prevalence studies. Some studies show coffee consumers are at risk for such diseases, whereas others show its active components protect them.

Introduction: The DMAIC approach is a five-phase improvement cycle which enables the advancement of pre-existing processes and was implemented as part of the "lean" process improvement initiative. The present study aims to improve the work efficiency of chemotherapy daycare unit (CDU) at a cancer hospital. The objectives include studying the process flow of the CDU, estimating the patient wait time (PWT) before infusion at the CDU, and implementing new measures to improve its functioning.

Background: Serum glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides and high-density lipoproteins (HDL) are established cardiovascular disease (CVD) markers, however accessibility to these markers is less in individuals from low-middle income countries. The non-invasive CVD risk marker especially skinfold measured fat percentages are less explored for its relevance with established serum biochemistry markers.

Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 70 sedentary office workers (aged 30-40 years) who were healthy.

Aims: The ICMR INDIAB-17 study revealed a diabetes prevalence of 11.4% in India, emphasizing the need for effective treatment for glycemic control. A Phase IV study was conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a Fixed Dose Combination (FDC) of Remogliflozin, Metformin and Vildagliptin (RMV) in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients uncontrolled on Metformin plus SGLT2 inhibitor or Metformin plus DPP4 inhibitor dual therapy.

Background: The relationship between the extent and severity of stress-induced ischemia and the extent and severity of anatomic coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with obstructive CAD is multifactorial and includes the intensity of stress achieved, type of testing used, presence and extent of prior infarction, collateral blood flow, plaque characteristics, microvascular disease, coronary vasomotor tone, and genetic factors. Among chronic coronary disease participants with site-determined moderate or severe ischemia, we investigated associations between ischemia severity on stress testing and the extent of CAD on coronary computed tomography angiography.

Methods: Clinically indicated stress testing included nuclear imaging, echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, or nonimaging exercise tolerance test.

Purpose: Rare diseases substantially contribute to population morbidity and mortality. Understanding rare disease health-related quality of life (HRQL) is essential for evaluating platform-based interventions that aim to tackle multiple rare diseases at a time. However, most HRQL studies focus on single or select group of rare diseases, often in a single country.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explored the acceptability and feasibility of telemedicine-assisted buprenorphine induction (TABI) for treating opioid use disorder in India.
  • Among the 60 patients enrolled, a high retention rate of 88.3% during the TABI program and 83.3% at the 3-month follow-up was observed.
  • Patient satisfaction was moderate, with 58.3% satisfied, but only 25% would recommend TABI, indicating the need for additional research to enhance its effectiveness and wider implementation.

Conventional methods of guided bone regeneration (GBR) in bone tissue engineering frequently encounter challenges in attaining adequate antibacterial and osteogenic qualities owing to intrinsic limits. The purpose of this preclinical study was to assess the effectiveness of two distinct membranes, Healiguide® and a unique GBR membrane produced from eggshell membranes (ESM), in combination with bone graft replacement in animal models. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a new guided bone regeneration membrane developed from eggshell membrane that incorporates zinc nanoparticles for the regeneration of bone tissue in rabbit models.

Background: Patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) represent >10% of patients awaiting kidney transplantation. These patients are prone to potentially severe urinary tract (UTI) and liver cyst infections after transplantation. Whether such infections compromise outcome is unclear.

Introduction: Obturation of the root canal is the most critical step in endodontic treatment, which aims to provide a hermetic seal and prevent regrowth and entry of bacteria into the canal. To achieve this, many sealers are used in endodontics.

Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of the apical seal obtained by different sealers used in conjunction with the single cone obturation technique using gutta-percha under the stereomicroscope.

Compact power splitters are essential components in integrated optics. While 1 × 2 power splitters with uniform splitting are widely used, a 1 × splitter with arbitrary number of ports and arbitrary splitting ratio is yet to be demonstrated. In this work we address this problem.

Rationale: Early mortality in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is due to hematoma volume (HV) expansion, and there are no effective treatments available other than reduction in blood pressure. Tranexamic acid (TXA) a hemostatic drug that is widely available and safe can be a cost-effective treatment for ICH, if proven efficacious.

Hypothesis: Administration of TXA in ICH patients when given within 4.
