The rapid diagnosis of opportunistic infections (OIs) is critical for improving the health outcomes of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). This study aimed to describe the feasibility of implementing a package for the rapid diagnosis of tuberculosis, histoplasmosis, and cryptococcosis in patients with advanced HIV/AIDS disease in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Materials And Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in a single tertiary hospital, using expert clinical judgment as the gold standard. We compared the diagnostic accuracy of the Okazaki, Umehara, and ACR/EULAR criteria in a cohort of 41 patients with suspected IgG4-RD.
: Cryoglobulinemia (CG) is marked by abnormal immunoglobulins (Ig) in serum, precipitating at temperatures below 37 °C. Current classification categorizes CG into three subtypes (types I, II, and III) based on Ig clonality. The features distinguishing patients with CG based on their etiology remain unidentified.

Methods: The inclusion criteria comprised individuals meeting the ACR/EULAR 2016 criteria who underwent MSGB with an infiltration of more than 50 lymphocytes and received clinical diagnosis between September 2017 and December 2018. Patients with inadequate biopsy samples were excluded.

Our goal is to further validate this model for its regulatory use for reproductive and developmental defects by testing the compounds indicated in the "Guideline on detection of reproductive and developmental toxicity for human pharmaceuticals" (ICH S5(R3) guideline.) The identification of genetic biomarkers as predictors of response to sarilumab could allow for a personalized treatment strategy to improve clinical outcomes.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 62 patients treated with sarilumab to determine whether single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the IL6R gene could predict efficacy and toxicity responses.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a prevalent autoimmune disease characterized by chronic arthritis that may lead to irreversible joint damage and significant disability. Patients with RA are commonly treated with Tocilizumab (TCZ), an IL-6 receptor (IL-6R) antagonist, but many patients refractorily respond to this therapy. Identifying genetic biomarkers as predictors of TCZ response could be a key to providing a personalized medicine strategy.

Methods: We performed a secretome analysis and the quantification of cytokine and adipokine plasma levels [IL-1β, IL-18, IL-6, soluble IL-6 receptor (sIL-6R), TNF-α, C-X-C motif chemokine 5, RANTES (Regulated upon Activation, Normal T Cell Expressed and Presumably Secreted), leptin, resistin and adiponectin] to analyse subclinical inflammation in intercritical gout patients. Since it is currently not feasible to determinate the whole body deposit of monosodium urate crystals, we created an indirect clinical classification to estimate it.

A hand held device has been designed for the immunomagnetic detection and quantification of the pathogen Escherichia coli O157:H7 in food and clinical samples. In this work, a technology to manufacture a Lab on a Chip that integrates a 3D microfluidic network with a microfabricated biosensor has been developed. With this aim, the sensing film optimization, the design of the microfluidic circuitry, the development of the biological protocols involved in the measurements and, finally, the packaging needed to carry out the assays in a safe and straightforward way have been completed.
