Polycystic ovarian syndrome and miscarriage in IVF: systematic revision of the literature and meta-analysis.

Purpose: To evaluate the risk of miscarriage in IVF cycles in women with PCOS.

Methods: Systematic review and meta-analysis. Systematic search of MEDLINE, EMBASE and Google Scholar.

A dataset with complete geographic distributions of eight zonal monospecific forest types in mainland Spain.

Distribution area and surface are both parameters of paramount importance for habitat management, monitoring and conservation. Here we present the distribution of eight zonal forest types of mainland Spain that are consistent with the Habitat Types (HT) listed in Annex I of the European Union Habitats Directive 92/43 EC. Their dominant species and HT codes are (9120, 9130 and 9150), and (9230), (9330), (9430), ssp.

Hydrolytic enzyme activities of extracted humic substances during the vermicomposting of a lignocellulosic olive waste.

Humic substances and three hydrolytic enzymes (beta-glucosidase, phosphatase and urease) were extracted by neutral sodium pyrophosphate from an olive waste (dry olive cake), alone or mixed with municipal biosolids, during a nine month vermicomposting process. Easily degradable compounds decreased during the vermicomposting process because of microbial consumption. When municipal biosolids were added to dry olive cake, microbial activity increased and the amounts of compounds extracted by pyrophosphate were three times lower than olive cake alone.

Vermicomposting of a lignocellulosic waste from olive oil industry: a pilot scale study.

The vermicomposting with Eisenia andrei of dry olive cake, a lignocellulosic waste produced during the extraction of olive oil, either alone or mixed with municipal biosolids, was studied in a nine-month pilot scale experiment. Number and biomass of earthworms and enzyme activities were periodically monitored and relevant properties of the final products were determined. In the assayed substrates, the total biomass of earthworms increased at the end of the experimental period between 9 and 12-fold respectively in comparison with the earthworm biomass initially inoculated.

[Treatment of climacteric syndrome using Estraderm TTS and premarin in a comparative study].

In an open-label, multicentric randomized trial the efficacy and tolerability of Estraderm TTS, a 17 beta-estradiol, and Premarin, consisting of conjugated estrogens, were compared in the treatment of the climacteric syndrome. 84 patients with manifest menopausal complaints were randomized into two groups of 42 women each. The duration of treatment was 11 weeks or 3 cycles, each with 3 weeks of estrogen treatment followed by a therapy-free week.

[Surgery for Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. Cuban experience].

Surgery is a recent approach in the treatment of arrhythmias. The first successful surgery of this type was the interruption of the accessory pathway in a patient suffering from the Wolff Parkinson White syndrome. In 25 consecutive patients who underwent surgery, 28 accessory AV pathways were identified with classical endocardial and epicardial mapping.

[Experience with the use of an implantable automatic cardioverter defibrillator].

An automatic implantable cardioverter-defibrillator with pacemaker was implanted in Cuba, in ten patients with malignant ventricular arrhythmias, sudden cardiac collapse, and ventricular tachycardia with syncope, after a previous electrophysiological study for analysis of the arrhythmia and pharmacological evaluation. The patients were 9 males, ranging in age from 23 a 70 years, with a mean of 48 years, and an ejection fraction of 32% (18-62%). The etiologies were: an old myocardial infarction (7 cases) and dilated cardiomyopathy (3 cases).
