Background: Socio-demographic and behavioral determinants of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccination and infection among pregnant women (PW) of Mayotte Island (Indian Ocean) are not well understood.
Methods: Six hundred and seventy-one pregnant women presenting to public antenatal clinics on Mayotte Island were included between September 15, 2008 and September 27, 2009. Socio-demographics, sexual risk behavior characteristics, and data for HBV biomarkers were collected.
Objective: To assess the prevalence and risk factors for HIV, hepatitis B virus (HBV), and syphilis among pregnant women living on the Indian Ocean island of Mayotte.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 671 pregnant women at 11 prenatal clinics on Mayotte between September 15, 2008, and September 27, 2009. Sociodemographic and behavioral characteristics were collected by interviewer-administered questionnaire.
Objective: To ascertain the relationship between periods of various antiretroviral therapies and the incidence of first community-acquired pneumococcal pneumonia (CAPP) among HIV-1 infected patients.
Methods: We analysed 4075 patients enrolled prospectively in the Lyon section of the French Hospital Database on HIV between 1993 and 2004, stratified into three groups. The first group (G1) included patients for whom enrolment and last follow-up were before the highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) period (beginning 1 July 1996); the second group (G2) comprised patients who were enrolled before HAART but had last follow-up in the HAART period; the third group (G3) included patients for whom both enrolment and last follow-up took place in the HAART period.
